Default What Car Insurance Do You Have?

I currently have State Farm, but the way ****'s going, I don't think I will for much longer.

I am insured under my father's policy. As most of you that live in Florida may have heard, State Farm is discontinuing homeowner's coverage in Florida. For that reason, my father switched our homeowner's insurance over to Allstate. We still have State Farm coverage on our vehicles.

This past month, my dad went to pay my insurance online and noticed that my insurance went from $190 to $250! What the **** kind of **** is that? My dad called State Farm and asked them why they raised my insurance, and they told him it was due to him switching his homeowner's insurance, which is what he suspected before he even called. Needless to say, both he and I are pissed. I'm losing $60 a month for my mod money! So, this is definitely a problem.

My father has been with the same company and same agent for 34 years, so he's pretty annoyed and frustrated. We're looking for another company to insure us right now and I was wondering what you guys have and what you pay, if you don't mind telling me. I'd also like to know how your current company handles things, if they're good, bad, or ugly.

And **** Geico. I already called them and they won't insure my car because of the headers. If I ever see that little lizard I will pick him up and say "aww, aren't you cute!" Then I will go Ozzy on his *** and bite his head off.

I have Geico, and they don't have any problem with my car, or my v6. I would never tell them that I autocross because I've heard that they will drop you if they find out. They even replaced my Cobra R bumper with a brand new Cervinis bumper. Durring the winter my Mom hit a deer, didn't do anything but bust out the headlight, no other damage. The guy figured up $1200 dollars in damage for random crap, he gave us the check and we got a $60 headlight from the junk yard, rest was pocketed. I know all that doesn't matter but I think the person you talked to sucked and I have a really good Geico rep.

we use a company out of PA called Harleyville Ins., my fiance used to wright ins. for years and they are really great. Have had no problems with them, and are fast when there is a issue and getting things paid out.

Especially since our oldest of 17 cant seem to keep 2 vehicles on the road with out hitting something in her 1st 6mon of driving and they fully paid off my 2001 stang when it was totalled after being stolen!

And they also insure our house as well.

Val, if you guys have the house insured with Allstate you just need to insure the cars there too.. It will save money on the home owners and you should be pretty close to where you were before on your car insurance.

I would say go with Farmers, but we're smart and don't sell insurance in Fla. or La. lol.

Wait.... they are getting rid of home owner insurance and raise your rates because you got rid of your home owners insurance?

That is bullshit.

And I have American Family Insurance.

Well, the reason why I told them about my modifications was because I don't want to be out 'x' amount of dollars if something was to happen. Like say a tree falls on my car during a hurricane and my car bends around it like a pretzel and I lose my exhaust. I'm out $2,000. If I'm not mistaken, they could also claim that my car was 'illegally insured' being as how I failed to notify them of the modifications made to my vehicle.

I don't mind paying extra a month for coverage for my modifications. I'm perfectly fine with that. State Farm insures all of my modifications and I don't have to pay extra, as long as I can prove that those things were on my car prior to the accident, which I can do because I have every single receipt.

I don't want to go with Allstate because I've heard some horror stories from several friends who have them.

No offense to you, dear Evan but you guys probably don't sell insurance in Florida or Louisiana because it is risky due to hurricanes. God forbid an insurance company actually have to pay for something instead of being strictly about profits.

Yes. That is exactly right. My dad has been with them for 34 years, they are discontinuing coverage in Florida so we switched over, and they raised my rates.

If I can't find a comparable company that will cover most of my mods, I will stay with State Farm and pay the extra each month.

Val, you name me one Insurance company that isn't all about profit's and I'll mail you $100 in monopoly money.

Farmers paid out over $20,000,000.00 last year alone in only Home owners claims in TN. Doesn't include our Auto/Umbrella/Life & Commercial losses..

You'll hear "horror" stories from every company.. Every company has web sites and forums dedicated to giving them a bad name and trying to keep people from buying their products.. Most people who have "horror" stories were either 1. wrong about the situation or 2. doing something stupid when they had their "accident." Don't get me wrong, Allstate sucks, but since you've already put the Home insurance with them, it would be stupid to lose the discounts.

Allstate doesn't suck. They're very good to their customers. They are more expensive at times but you get what you pay for like everything else. When my car got broken into I called them at 9am explained what happened. They gave me the address for the claims evaluator and setup an appointment for me. Next they put me on hold and connected me with a window company stationed in San Antonio (about 30 miles from me) put me though to them and the guy setup a time to have his guys come out and install a new window for me. Guy's came out at 2 after I got back from the car getting checked out and had all the glass removed from the car and a new window put in all in a matter of 5 hours. (accident reported at 9am resolved by 2pm)

Then I brought the car to get painted for the repairs the thief made and I got my car back in two and a half days with exceptional quality. Don't know what more you can ask for from and insurance company. Sure beats those crappy ones that throw you though hoops and take forever to pay the bills. Allstate paid the companies directly I never had to write out a check

The family has Allstate as well. Haunt had any issues with them thus for. Then again the only accidents I have had I didn't have to report or wasn't my fault.

+1 USAA, definitely the best service you'll get from any insurance company. And you don't have to be just military & immediate family anymore...I got a flier a while back that said its open to extended family and friends of military. - Nick

The company as a whole does suck pretty bad... As with any type of business, especially one where there are franchise partners (Agents) you will have some good and some bad. It's kind of like going to one Sonic near your house and getting bad food, but going to the one near where you work and getting good food, each restaurant is owned and operated by different people, that same rule applies to insurance Agencies and Companies.

You should be thankful that you get the service that you did, it doesn't happen very often with that particular company, just ask the many families that were/ still are homeless after Katrina, or the most recent hurricane in Fla...

My car and my wifes are covered with Nationwide. We've tried all the others and can't find a better rate or coverage with anyone else. One reason is we are long time users of Nationwide with the same representive dude since we got coverage, 17 years ago. Zero accidents and Zero points on either of us. Only thing we claimed was a windshield twice, for different vehicles. It helps if you are a long time safe driver with any insurance company, escpecially if have a full coverage policy..

I have State Farm, but we have our home owners insurance with them as well as our cars. My home owners is like $900 a year and my mustang is $438 every 6 months with full coverage. If I were to get a cobra, it would only be about $650 every 6 months.

Commerce Insurance. Full coverage (fire, theft, collision, inisured/underinsured motorist and higher dollar values for any accidents/injuries/damages ) on the 'Stang cost me about 800 for the year.

I just took an advanced driver training course which will also give me an additional discount on my insurance.

I'm 18, '98 V6. I pay 288/mo.

They recently covered ~$1400 in damage to my car when it got hit a couple weeks back.

I have Progressive. I'm 26 and married and with a clean record. I pay $151 a month. Not bad for me. I've already done a claim thru them and loved the way the handled it.
