2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8
The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 features an SRT-exclusive 6.1-litre HEMI V8 engine mated with a new-for-2009 six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick that generates a blistering 425 horsepower (317 kW) and 420 lb-ft of torque (569 Nm). The vehicle can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than five seconds.
What do u guys think about the new 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8?

425/420 for the Top Dog model doesn't even sound impressive any more with 500HP Shelby's and Corvettes. But the price will probably/hopefully be less than the competitors also. They look great, I've seen two in town so far, a orange one and a green one.

yup.
400hp 4000lb $40,000 for 40yr olds with 4 kids.
i think 425 is great on a naturally aspirated engine, but they had to go **** it up and turn it into a fat 4,000 lbs
i read that one of thier performance goals was to have it run in stock trim, 1/4 in under 14 seconds.
which is achievable by a bone stock 99-04 260hp mustang gt with a good driver on a nice day.
lol......
I saw one the other day... they do look nice though...

i dont know about you guys, but i hate the look of all the "new generation" muscle cars, including the mustang. the challenger, charger, camaro and mustang all have the same basic look where they tried to bring the "retro" look to a modern style. all looks like blah to me.

I think the challenger actually looks more retro compared to the new camaro and the all new stang coming up in 2010. But it's price for the top o the line model will be over 42 grand. Out of my range for sure.. But then again, most of the new "muscle car/ sports coupes, are out of price range for me. But these are 1st model year cars. They will go down after a 1 or 2 years..

Tell me about it. Our local police force uses them, and I had the opportunity to drive one in May and man did it suck. Granted it was an automatic, but no real power. The worst throttle response that I've ever felt in a car. And it rolls to much in the corner. All of Dodges new-gen stuff is heavy...

Im not too impressed as its still slower than me . I saw one a few weeks ago and it looked like a narrow high assed vehicle . Maybe if I saw one lowered it may look better. I like the fact that it looks seamless as far as sheetmetal and body lines.

Was it an actual police force car, because I know the crown vics are geared differently but who knows if theyre stock or not in the chargher

looks sick, but if im not mistaken, you can flame me if im wrong... its only got 425 hp.... and it weighs as much as a sherman... and call your dodge dealer but in orlando we called and could only get it in an automatic for the first year....

BUT IT'S AN "AUTOSTICK" "MANUMATIC" "TIPTRONIC" woo

personally i love the look of the newer muscle cars. the only one i could agree with you on is the charger....only the daytona one appeals to me really.....i have been lookin around for a 72/73 nova though.....wouldnt mind gettin my hands on one of those.

Yes. Drove the Crown Vic too, now that was fun. Still not as punchy as my car, but it was a ton better than the Charger. Cornering, throttle response and everything was 4x better. I swear in that Charger (because they're all automatics at the station that I know of) I counted to 2 seconds easily before I felt anything.

I love the new 197 style 'Stang, but the new Challenger's style blows it out of the water. In my opinion it is one of the best looking cars on the market and probably one of the best to come along in a long long time.
Chrysler is hurting themselves though on two fronts, one the weight issue, all of their cars are heavy. Secondly, none of their cars get all that great gas mileage. They have beautiful designs, but they don't have the performance to back it up.
For instance, my car is an '03 Stratus R/T, great performance, style and curb appeal but the mileage is severely lacking. I usually average about 22-23MPG, that is fairly poor considering the alternatives.
