Default Vista and RAM!!!

So I bought a new HP Laptop for work, it has Vista Professional on it. It had 1 gig of Ram and was shared with the Video card. Needless to say I was NOT happy with the speed of this machine....in fact, my old Dell PIII machine was quicker.....UNTIL I INSTALLED 4GIGS OF RAM TODAY!
So, if you are running Vista, get as much ram as you can in there.

That is all,

i read around and most people say vista needs a minimum of 2 gigs to run decent. my vista laptop takes forever and a day to shut down and start up... pisses me off. i only have a 1 gig of ram though.

vista blows monkey dick. i wish Microsoft would heed the term "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

XP is nearly perfect. why mess with a good thing and screw it all up again?

WIN XP Pro w/ SP 2 FTW!!!

hell they should have SP3 ready in a couple months for XP as well, I tell people that ask me about how much RAM they should get when they order a system with vista and if they plan to keep it vista...I tell them to pack as much as they can into it!

Hell 4gb of RAM would make XP fly!

My Vista has worked way better then XP did. I love and my computer has not crashed once since I've gotten it. I'm running 2gigs and the speed is fine. They definitely recommend at least 2 gigs with Vista.

Vista FTW!!

Well, when I got our desktops, they both had Vista with 512mb of ram. I upgraded to 768mb and it still sucked....My wife could deal with it but I wanted no part of it. So, I installed XP on my machine. When I just bought my new laptop, I figured I'd give Vista a try again, but even at 1 gig it was at risk of being replaced again with XP. I bought 4 gigs from Newegg and she runs like a champ now. If you are anti-Vista, you need to try it again with more Ram. There are a lot of cool things that Vista has to offer.

Technically....no. Why? Because as technology improves, so will the need for higher horsepower machines. 5 years from now, will you say that needing 4gb of Ram for an OS to run right? No, because as OS improve, so will the need for more Ram. I guess Vista is just ahead of its time. If all systems that came with Vista from the git go had 4 gigs from the factory might not have others crying foul. That is why I am giving it another shot.

Yeah I hear alot about people hating Vista. And I agree it can be really annoying. But if you spend some time and play around with it, you will get to, not like it, but be able to bear it.

Same as WinXP for that to run good you needed 1GB. Memory is getting cheaper I wish someone would make all these devices that you could share hot swapable memory between several devices like PC,Phone,Camera and Vid Camera. Most of the time you are using only one of these at a time. Also you shouldnt change your PC unless the current technology is at least twice as fast as what you have.

What are all these problems people are seeing with Vista? I haven't experiences anything bad. My computer runs pretty damn smooth and I have the whole Adobe CS3 Masters collection on it which takes up a lot of freakin room.

well vista is all about making things pretty. it is good for no use except for little emo girls that want a pretty desktop so they can have more fun checking their myspace.

like half of your computer goes to trying to make your computer look pretty.
and if you disable these things it still runs but doesnt show. which still uses like 1/4 of your computer. i will post tips to make your computer faster in a minute....will take a while.

It looks like Vista might be going away after all. It has not been stable for me lately.

wow I still don't see any problems with mine and I use my laptop daily. All my programs run smoothly even when I'm running multiple things at a time.
