Default hmmmmm... well I am a god.

So here's the story:

Buddy of mine says hey... my truck's broke down can you help me fix it. I say sure I'll check it out. He tells me he's confirmed a blown head gasket on a 3.0L toyota v6 in a 4runner (SOHC). I know those are a bitch to work on but I go ahead and start breaking down the engine. I get to where I need to decide if the heads are coming off or not cuz the cams have to come out and that's a PITA. I'm noticing that the cooling system is in great shape with no oil, there's no goop in the mid-pipe and the oil looks great. I check the spark plugs and notice that cyls 1,2,3,5 all have platinum plugs with not even a hint of electrode visible in the hole. THey're black and shot and I can tell. Ok... maybe that's a result of the HG making the thing run bad.

Go to remove exhaust manifolds and notice that the driver side is totally loose. I put a 13mm wrench on a 14mm nut and it spun the nut right off kinda loose. So I snug the thing back up. Replace every vacuum and pressure hose, all the top end gaskets, time the cams, replace alternator, PS pump, radiator, timing belt, spark plugs (autolite coppers), egr valve, #7 injector and about 15 different sensors, solder and shrink tube 50 or so broken/bare wires, put the thing back together. I decided against everyone elses opinion (including the 3 shops he brought it to before me) that there was no HG problem and that the exhaust leak caused it to run mega rich and blew the tune and a few key sensors. I treated it like a minor overhaul and that's it.

Burned a months worth of weekends and nights and dude doesn't even call me for weeks after we finish. Turns out, not only did I fix it. I BADASS fixed it without knowing a damn thing about the motor (well ok... I knew a little). It appears to have passed smog, and already been traded for a old-n-busted acura legend which needs a little work of its own.

Would you be pissed? I mean... not even a phone call to say hey thanks it passed smog and I would have had to crush it otherwise so thanks man.

EDIT: california smog is **** level hard to pass and I made that damned hoopdie work it.

Next time say ya I'll fix it and then just completely dismantle his engine and walk away. Oh and kick him in the ***** as well. What a jackass

I've appreciated the stuff you've done for me. Some people are just clueless.

Yeah that aint right man and I do sympathize. I've had that kind of stuff done to me time after time. I've gotten to the point where I just don't help anyone with anything really and I don't ask for favors from anyone. I only help my immediate family and that's about it. It sounds bad but that's just the way I've become in the last few yrs. You get tired of being burned by people.

That's just totally wrong. I think that guy may need a new windshield also along with those lights that are going to need to be replaced. We had a guy do us that way. We switched out his tranny, overhauled his engine and he said he'd give us $100 for it. No big deal, but we still haven't seen the $100 and it's been over a year ago. He still can't figure out why we won't "help" him anymore after that.

Yea thats pretty messed up.

My friends do alot of my car work.. and by a lot I mean..everything..I sit and learn and help out under their direction..

They normally don't charge but I still kick down a little cash and give a huge thanks.. I think that Acura would need some major body work along with those lights and windshield.

Oh BTW red..do you still have any laptops for sell?

definately %&*ked up... definately would be pissed if i were you... just ignore cries for help from now on... just yes him to death until he asks you why your doing it and then tell him... making him feel like complete crap for being a dick will get your point across better than any broken headlight or windshield... (might not be as stress relieving but wutever) just dont go the extra mile for anyone that you aren't sure is going to appreciate... trust me tho its not easy... find myself helpin out selfish bastard even tho i know they are selfish bastards... to nice i guess

I think the part that pisses me is that I think he was gunna trade it from the beginning.

Well... such is life. At least I know my limits a little better than before.
