Crazy huh! I'd like to see a comparison of salaries as well.....I would seriously consider moving out the state if I could keep my same pay...then I'd have a freaking mansion.

but tell ya what, if you can drop from 80k a year to 60k a year, and the houses drop from 750,000 to 200,000.... well.. it doesent take a genius to know that cali is way overpriced.

Well considering Cali has the 6th largest economy in the world by itself I'd say there is a lot more here to do for work than just the movie business. I also love how everyone just thinks there are a bunch of **** roaming around Cali trying to butt plug everyone in site.....Yes, we have our problems and it's expensive, but there aren't too many places in the world like it.
By they way Jack....I've been to Denver a couple of times and love it...well, not during the winter, but other than that it's sweet.
I somewhat agree with what you said about dropping the prices down and Cali is overpriced, but in my mind if somewhere is CHEAP it's probably not too desirable of a place to live (not always the case, but sometimes). There are several reasons why Cali is expensive and one of them is because it's a desirable place to live.

Thats excatly why for me. I'm going into Visual Effects/Animation and there's nowhere else thats better. Like jjtgiants said, Cali has much more than just the movie industry. The Silicon Valley is the place to be if your an engineer or any kind of computer related person. I doubt I could really find a job doing what I do now and making what I make somewhere else. Now I don't make that much money (40,000-45,000 a year), but this isn't my career. It's a job until I can finish up school. Plus I spend most of the day on the internet screwing around. Oh and I have full benefits for free.
