Default BONE STOCK MACH keeps cracking tailshaft housing

The only mod done to the car is the intake silencer, it has been removed. I know people are out there powershifting $what not with mods and slicks and theyre not having this prob! I have 13,000 mi on the car and do engage in an occasional street race from time to time. It looks like the tailshaft and tranny housing are made of 2 diff metals! My fluid leaked out burnt up the 3650 and ford wont replace it so its gonna cost 3000 big ones for a new 3650 installed at ford, D&D sells t56 conversion with driveshaft and crossmember for 2600...........but whats the deal with the tailshaft housing
???????????????????????thanx

Why is ford not replacing it free of charge? I would go to a different dealer. You said yourself that the only mod is the intake silencer removal, and that has nothing to do with the transmission (or any other part of the car for that matter).

With only 13K miles, and no mods, this dealer is trying to screw you. There's guys that drag race thier cars every weekend, and have numerous mods, and they can still get warranty work done. Definitely go to a different dealer.

You might want to take your car to the biggest ford dealership in the area. Dont deal with the one you posted, and dont be scared to get it around neighboring citys. That is a problem that ford WILL fix and they have to. Go in and tell them the problem, and dont say anything about racing or modifications to the car, so play stupid.

Thumbs up

If your going to be street racing once in awhile I would have it built. Don't
put another stock one in, but it may brake on you again. That what I would do if I had the $$$$.

If your crackin tailshafts like that.........your evidently doing ALOT of holeshots.........If you do that alot, especially with a stock transmission....your going to end up with some parts failure.....stop the holeshots or beef it up......

Hole shots with slicks!, I could see that but the stock rubber has never been off the car not even to be rotated!

Default A Question of balance

If you have the money you might want to spring for a FRPP driveshaft, and make sure its balanced properly. Whoever (and one hopes its the ford dealer) does your repair, get them to check to make certain the driveshaft and rear line up properly with the tail shaft of the new tranny. Its possible that you've got part breakage in the rear end that's allowing too much twist. A transmission will not fix this problem. Your driveshaft could be bent as well.

Finally, I suspect the original casting was defective anyway - just looking at what else could cause the problem...

Default Mouting problems

On second thought, make sure to check the transmission and motor mounts.

F' all that! You have a newer $30k+ car that needs to be taken care of BY FORD! There is no way in hell that you should replace that tranny with anything other than a WARRANTY replaced 3650. Even after that, that car needs to be put on a frame machine to make sure there are not major issues. The only reason you should crack a tailshfat is if there are major alignment issues in the driveline or the output shaft is major league bent. None of that will happen in a stock car, I don't care how hard you launch. You can run bubble gum for tires and you still should not crack a tail shaft. I run over 500 HP on drag radials and never ever ever cracked a tranny housing part in my life. The rear will break WAY before the tranny housing or tail shaft. Take it to another dealer or call alwyer, whatever it takes.
