Default Fuel pump question

Will two stock 155lph twin fuel pumps that came off a 2003 Lightning work on my 2001 GT.....everyone has been asking this i'm just curious.....and what would that benefit of the twin pumps be? Also could this be a good choice for a nitrous application?

how are you gonna run them on your car? in your stock tank? and i assume you are getting these at some discount otherwise you could buy the cobra pumps

I could get the set for $45-$50.........but i'm just curious if the applicatoin could be done? I just thought it might be a cheaper alternative than the focus pump.....I think I might do the focus pump and be done with it

for ****s sake get a focus pump its a direct drop in. and to use that you need the full bucket setup and i am pretty sure they have a Y at the top so you cna use them with your fuel line.

Your such a cheap asshat lol.

I was going to do the get a part from another kind of car and cheap out that way route... but I said screw it and asked Santa (my wife) for exactly what I would have bought. A 255lph Vortech intank pump. Under 150 delivered brand new from summit. Got a free hat with it and a warranty I can count on.

something to think about.

255lph in tank pump? not on returnless style you better not use that

It's designed for use with 99-04 returnless cars. do tell why you don't think it's a good idea. The pro's at vortech and Summit suggested it. My tuner thinks it's a great idea, and my 5.4L supercharged application about to come online says I have to have it.

actually I was asking why Dom thinks that one particular capacity fuel pump is a bad idea over any other.

I have a V8 that makes nearly 250 on the ground untuned and running kinda lean, I'm the proud owner of a small shot of nitrous, and I have a 5.4L with a blower in the garage waiting to be finished and transplanted. I see a definite need for the capacity to squirt out 255lph. Dom disagrees. I want to know why. If he can show me a valid reason, I may just convert to a return style system earlier than planned.

So dom, why do you think a 255 on a returnless system is bad? Do you think it'll heat the fuel, overpressure the system, fail in some other creative way? I'm really curious to see if everyone to date, including me (I have made errors in the past... never can tell) has missed something.

No what he is saying is that our cars are returnless which i asume you know. SO they can only use variable voltage pumps or they will just get fried. to my knowdgle no one makes an aftermarket highflow 99-04 fuel pump you can only use the stock,focus,aviator fuel pump if you want a direct drop in, or get a cobra tank and pumps.

its not the flow rate im argueing. its the pump itself. our fuel systems flow based on varying voltage levels from the computer. these variable voltages kill pumps like the one you speak of

well damn... I just checked again I got told wrong by summit, vortech and my tuner thought I was talking about a focus pump anyway he just failed to recognize that I was saying 255 on purpose, and lastly:

you're right Dom. Make sure you read that again. I don't do that often.

So, looks like I'll be selling a brand new Vortech 255lph pump and buying a focus pump. I don't want to go return style just yet.

EDIT:

Another call to vortech and they're holding by the, "yes even thought that's the pump we use in our 98 and older kits we use that same pump in our new model kits. it'll be just fine. enjoy your pump."

Anyone want to buy a 255 intank for a 96-98 application? 125 shipped.

i had a hard time selling mine that came with my procharger kit. though it will work with the returnless systems it will fail easily. how much n2o are you going to run by the way? and do you have stickshift?

I'll be running a 75 shot on both the 4.6 and the 5.4 when it comes on line. Dry shots the both of them. I figured on about 6-8lbs of boost on the 5.4 and a 75 shot should have me in 36 or 42lb injectors. The 22's I have now are fine for a 75 if not ideal.

Yes I have a stick.... my fourth 3650 in this car. The first 3 failed in the first year.

Vortech seems to think that they've had no reliability issues with running variable voltage through the 8F001-265. I'm kinda torn now. They include that pump with their 99-04 blower kits and the engineers like it.

almost everyone includes that ****ing pump. it will probably work fine in testing, but if they tested the same application for like a month or so's time theyd know it failed. plus its probably cheaper for them to just include that than to think of a new pump decision for each application
