Default GT Hood Scoops 99-04

Are we correct that the 99 GT did not have a hood scoop, then the 2000 GT have a short hood scoop, then the 01 through 04 GTs have a taller hood scoop? If not what are the differences and when did the styles change?

thank you
stano and ann

The only 99 stang with a scoop is the 35th anniversary Limited Edition cars. In 2000, ford had a Spring Edition mustang that also had a hood scoop. These scoops are smaller than the scoops from 01-04 though, so make sure to get the big one.

Ive heard its not too hard to make the side scoops function to route tubing to your rear brakes to have the cool off...

Not hard at all... road noise goes up a lot though. There's a circular hole that's just perfect for 3" or so ducting. I've punched through one of mine for the rear diff cooler that's coming together. You need to adapt some sort of collar to the opening so you can get the ducting to stay in place. There's also the issue of not enough flow to make it really useful. On mine, I'm installing a series of small high output fans inside the ducting to pick up the velocity a little. There are so many big bends needed in the tubing to look clean that the airflow dies down if you don't augment it. If you're gonig pure race it's a helluva lot easier since the ducting can be as short as you are creative.

All in all, I think the side scoops look good on the mustang. It wouldn't look right without them. The bullit side scoops are the smallest but those are too subdued for my taste. The hood scoop (I have the 01-04 high model) is WAY too tall. It blocks my view constantly and until I painted it flat black, glared like a biatch on sunny days. (I also painted the side scoops and wing flat black so it wouldn't look totally ghey).
