If it is the same as the J-Mod, it's worth it. A much better way to get better performance out of an auto than with a tuner.

Cool link my man. Goin to try and find out how bigga deal it`ll be to fit/set-up. Being in an area where hardly anyone drives autos never mind Mustangs I `d need to check it all out before a purchase.

It seems that way. Replacement springs too.

I have installed a few kits like that. It looks intimidating, but its not very hard. READ THE DIRECTIONS 20 TIMES BEFORE YOU START!!!

there isnt much difference between any of the kits...it could be the same one. Some have optional parts to customize the shifting.

I run one of their competition transmissions and I will say that the valve body they use is great. Soft shifts at part throttle and shifts hard in WOT. My car makes a little bit of power and in cooler weather 3rd gear at WOT will have me sideways on the street or strip.

I would say their valve body/shift kit upgrade is worth it. I have had this transmission in my car since 2006. Still is a beast. There is shift lag though...you can feel the gear disengage and once it hits that next gear you will have a tire chirp or will leave some 5ft patches of rubber on the pavement. I think this is normal for a 4r/AODE.

This looks alot more simple than the j-mod. Dont you drill holes in the valve body or something along those lines, and dont you need a transmission cooler for that mod? With this kit it looks like you just replace all the existing **** with the new kit. It actually shouldnt be very difficult to do this.

You should already be running an external transmission cooler. The stock cooler in the radiator only does so much when its heat soaked.

Im talking about an auxiliary cooler. I only read about the j-mod once, a long time ago, and I believe somewhere in some thread, it was mentioned that you would need one. possibly. Im not sure. Thats why I asked. It awesome that these kits are available now, though. Too bad I dont have the mustang anymore.

Auxillary cooler/ external cooler samething. People with autos should run one with a bone stock transmission.

Well if none of you be the guinea pig I'll do it in 2 months. I hate my transmission so much that if the shifting improves I might not want to force it into destroying itself.

Get the shift kit, B&M Hammer shifter and the right converter for your setup and I bet you won't hate the Auto so bad

I am not sure why but I always thought you had a 5 speed

I've always wanted a 5 speed. lol. I read up on the hammer shifter and it doesn't really seem like it's my thing. I'd rather just have a manual shifter.

BTW, the holster got here today, it's awesome. Still trying to figure out a good way to have it setup without printing the handle though. I should be able to send you the money in a few days. Thanks again.

Bite your tongue. I had one in my fox and LOVED it. I will get another one but I want a different **** than the metal one that comes with the hammer.

Try dialing in a bunch of cant. I adjusted back to factory setting before I shipped it. I find the more cant it has the more it will conceal the grip. Or..............you could just get a G26

Keeping things on an auto theme. 4r70s or 75s. Why is it that a lot of people say they`re not reliable? I always thought generally they were quite a safe bet. Whats the general opinion in the country that they come from?
They good sturdy boxes or just average?

I`m going to buy one of those kits in the above links by the way.

I think they are a pretty solid trans. If they can't be built up to withstand the power that some of the big blower and turbo Cobras are dishing out they would have to be pretty good. I doubt they are the most efficient though.

The autos are pretty stout if you take care of them. Mine started to fail after I added a supercharger but I didnt take care of my transmission.

I suggest buying a auxillary transmission cooler and doing the PA shift kit or J-Mod to the valve body to firm up the shifts. Those 2 things alone will extend the life of your transmission for sure.

Cool. Just that I keep reading posts by the same guys ( on another forum ) continually saying they`re garbage with a list of issues and they will fail at some point. My cars only done 21000 miles so I don`t expect problems just yet.

I kinda wondered as I hadn`t found any evidence to suggest they were dodgy or weak. Sure, everybody somewhere will have problems with almost any product but I didnt want to dispute the other guys claims as in Mustang experience I`m still pretty green.

The 4.10s are in yesterday so thats another box ticked. I`m buying a performance shift kit now.

thanks guys

Im still pretty basic as far as auto transmissions go, so I cant tell you how good or bad the trannies ford is throwing in the mustangs are, but I can tell you that Ive only seen one mustang come though our doors since Ive started r/r-ing. Hell..my car probably has close to, if not, 200,000 miles, and the trans is still going strong on it. THe most common trans that we work on are the 4L--E whatevers. The only fords I really ever get to work on are explorers, rangers, and taurus's....We did do a lightening the other day, but it had been worked on before, so Im pretty sure it was user error that causes it to go.
