Unhappy Auto Trans

My 02 GT auto started acting wierd.

Once it shifts into 4th it will not kickdown again. If I manually lockout OD with the button it works fine. Slowing to a stop it downshifts fine, just OD (4th) seems to shift early and then won't downshift under accell, it downshifts manually ok.

Any experience with this?

Any upgrades to your tranny that you know of? Tuned? Shift kit? i'm not quite understanding what you mean by "downshifts manually ok".....it shouldnt downshift under acceleration when in 4th.....either i'm not understanding or your wording is mixed up

Edit: Are you talking about going a certain speed then punching it so it downshifts so it can shift again back into 4th?

Only mod is Excalibrator 2 , tried "return to stock" programming. No change

When driving in 4th, 60 to 70 mph, mash throttle to pass etc. it does not "kickdown", stays in 4th but surges a little like it is trying to downshft but can't.

With "OD off" driving 50 to 60, mash throtle it "kicksdown" into 2nd and accellerates well.

Hit the button to allow it into OD at any speed over 50 and it loses the "kickdown" function.

I have had problems with that before. I would be cruising around 67 mph and punch it and it would stay in gear. I just happened to have it custom tuned with the SCT Xcalibrator2 because i have other mods as well. Once the tuning was finished, everything works phenominal and the shift points were altered. Now I can even cruise up to 75 mph and still down shift when punching. Try taking it back to whoever tuned and explain your problem, ask them to "firm up" your shift points. Mines also an auto and I'll chirp going into 3rd I'm not real sure how, but maybe I could find out exactly where my shift points are, as in with the xcalibrator2
