Default Need auto trans adjustment XCal2.

1. Need to cut back on shifting points (mph)(hangs in gear).
2. Need to soften the shift (too hard).
The Xcal2 was an easy installation, went directly to custom tune and popped it in. Drove it for a few hundred miles, everything else okay.
Are the "enter opt parms?" where I do this? Do I have to "return to stock" to put the adjustments in? What are the codes for the doing #1 and #2. Thanks.
P.S. The Xcal2 user's guide is incredibly badly written, and for some reason their web site doesn't address adjustment. SN1002785.

The SCT tuning for automatics does shift rather hard because it increases shift pressures and it removes a lot of the slip that Ford programs in from the factory. The hard shifting feels like it may be bad for your transmission, it is actually not. While slip smoothens out the shifts, it is horrible for your torque converter. It creates excess heat and wears out your torque converter prematurely which eventually leads to that pocket devastating transmission rebuild.

If you do wish for easier shifts, the "enter opt parms" menu is where you will find settings for shift pressure. It allows you to change the pressure for every shift point, i.e. shift pressure 23 would be shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, so if only need to change the shifts that are bothering you. Only adjust a little at a time, and then test your vehicle between adjustments till you get it perfect. If you can not get it adjusted to where you want it, let me know via email with your full name so I can look up your order, and I will email you an adjusted tune.

Increasing the shift pressure in a tranny is not harmful as long as its not too much...when you get a tune it does up the pressure but not that much. The problem is in doing this is that the tranny is now making more heat most ppl do a j- mod to relieve the pressure and get a tranny cooler to lower the temperature.

I asked my tuner about this in my 01 auto. I wanted to get the shifts right in the middle of the stock and SCT shift points. He said he would have to go back and do everything maunally in the comp for SCT does not have something like this. This would be ideal for me in the winter, instead i just went back to the stock tune for winter months.

Thumbs down XCAL2 has no user adjustment manual.

White Thunder, I noticed your "tuner"s reply to you. The Xcal2 is great for a 5-speed and does make the engine run smoother. If you have a automatic transmission then you must use a computer to input into the hand held device. Note Fox Bodys response to my same inquirey. I just took the tune out and put the XCAL2 somewhere in the back room closet. By the way, I did contact the manufacturer (located in Disney World, FL) and got zero satisfaction from them. The simple point is that you can not make adjustments using the hand held device as it was advertised. Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you. Good luck, you'll need it.

Yea, thats what I was saying, you can't do it yourself. You have to go to a SCT shop and have them download a custom program/file/tune w/e you want to call it onto your handheld tuner.
