need help with tuners
I need some info on tuners, this is new to me so please start off with the basics.
1. what are the hot products?
2. what are you using?
3. how easy is it to tune, do you need a dyno? or a laptop?

Depends on what you need... you can do a handheld with mail order or custom or adjustable tunes, or actually make your own tune and put it on a chip or handheld. There are tons of options out there for any of those cases. For the most part you'll see people using names like TwEECer, SCT (several products from handhelds to Pro-Racer kit), DiabloSport Predator, etc...
If you're not a skilled engine mechanic already, the DIY option is probaby out. It's VERY technical and not really easy to learn and once you learn how you also need to know the why, when and how much bits as well. I've done a bit in the past and it's a real PITA to learn. There's only so much to be done with a handheld with the mail-order and custom adjustable tunes and you still need a wideband o2 sensor, driver and display if you want to really mess with the base tune much (only so much you can adjust on most handhelds). Not to mention the fact that 4th gear WOT runs on public roads is just usually a bad idea so access to a dyno and an understanding of how to use it becomes necessary.
Honestly, find a good reputable tuner in your region (people drive across states for a good tune) and have them do it. I used to do it myself but it's really worth it to get a real pro on it.
