Modding does not add to the value of the car... but it won't necessarily 'take away the value', either. It doesn't really do anything except get the car to where you want it to be. If you mod the hell out of it and plan to sell it down the road, you WILL NOT get the money back that you put into it.

Anyway, sorry to hear about the deer. I hope you get your car back in shape soon.

here in Michigan we get quite a few car deer accidents. I probably know more people here who have been in a car deer accident than haven't. I have been in 2 but was never driving

On the S197's, the hoods on the GT's and V6's are the same.

What does insurance exactly pay for?

If you wanted stock stuff then I would assume they pay for parts, paint, and labor.

If you purchase aftermarket parts do they still pay for the paint job and installation>?

They basically make out a quote and then right you a check and you can do with it what you want.

if that's what happens i would definately do some modding now unless you just don't ever want to change anything later. might as well take advantage of the money you get instead of taking their money, getting stock parts and then spending your money later to change stuff they replaced. be a lot cheaper to do it now if you have the extra money. sometimes you don't have it though.

And not to mention the prices they quote you on stock parts is usually close to what you'd pay for some of the aftermarket stuff.

Just make sure to get the aftermarket stuff painted by the dealer. I have yet to find one single body shop that does a good job other than high end performance shops.
