Default gas disposal?

i bought my son an 88 mustang vert that had been sitting for quite some time. i dropped the gas tank today and it is over half maybe 3/4 full of old gas that sat in there for over a year. what do i do with it? the tank is sitting on the ground in the driveway with the gas cap taped over the opening where the filler neck goes. how do i get rid of the old gas so i can put the tank back on and put some fresh fuel in it?

Box of Matches. Take some pictures to share. Got a grudge against anyone?

I bet a place like autozone or something would take it. I take all my old oil and fluids to those places.

parts stores DO NOT accept waste fuel. some gas stations do, same with truck stops. check with your local dump, and with the local fire department. they are trained and informed on how to dispose of waste fuels, oils, and coolants.

you could always burn it if you find an empty abandoned lot or something, obviously take the proper safety safety equipment but burning it on concrete would be bad.

Throw it in your mower. Otherwise I would just burn it. Just make sure your neighbors aren't paranoid.

Know anybody with a pre cat USA pickemup? 1/2 tank of old gas, mixed with fresh premium would probably burn just fine.

sandman, I don't know of any gas stations here in TX that take waste fuel. I work for QuikTrip up here in DFW and we don't take it, I've never heard of any station taking it either.

If it were me I would get in contact with local FD and ask them what you need to do.

OR.. If you don't wanna do that find a gas station that closes over night and pop their underground fuel caps open, they're the big metal disks that look like odd speed bumps

Usually these are NOT locked to allow tankers easy access for drops, I'm not sure how it works with places that close over night though they may go outside and lock them because people try to siphon gas out of them.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, if you do dump it into a gas stations underground tank and you get caught expect to spend some time in jail and go to trial.. lol so yeah talk to the fire department

I would run it in the old lawn mower. Mine takes a beatn, and as much gas as it goes threw it wouldn't last long
