imo the best looking stangs are 99-04. As far as reliability I've only owned my 04 gt so I can't speak to older models but mine has been pretty good. I did have an axle seal and valve cover gasket that were leaking. This was around 20k miles and covered under ford warranty. I have 43k on it now and the only issue I have noticed recently is that I think I had a wheel bearing going bad in the rear. Good thing is I swapped my rear for another solid when I put 4.10's in and that problem seems to have vanished. Besides routine maintenance that I'll need to do within the next 8k miles (fluid changes and brakes) this car has been pretty good. Just have a trusted mechanic look it over before you buy it so he can tell you how much you'll need to spend (if any) to fix or maintain. That way you have some leverage to deal when you go purchase it.

 

still looking for a new model. unfortunately this one i went and drove very hyped up but got let down. It looks great but there is an exhaust leak a large scratch on rear bumper, squeaky suspension and needs a new power steering pump....no thanks!! I'd rather buy a car that I can drive 200 miles off the lot with no problems...still looking
