i need new brake pads...

Default i need new brake pads...

but i think that i only need them in the front. so if i get the front pair form am should i get the backs at the same time. and is that all i need.

or should i just take it to a brake shop?

Check the pad thickness. It's not like your installing headers. Just jack up the car, remove the wheels, unbolt the two bolts holding each caliper, and look at the pad thickness. Anything less than 1/8" needs replacing.

my rims are covored absolutly covered like after just a little driving cince washing
so i figured that that was it.

Other things can go wrong to make an excessive amount of brake dust. Just check and see how they look.

ok ill prob do that and take it to a place it i think thay look bad. what else could ge causeing it

I can almost guarantee that if you take it to some place to have a look at, they are 90% likely to say you need new pads, even if they are new. Just take a look for yourself, even a 4 year old can do this. However, if it's been around 40k miles since you last got pads, then it's probably time for the the front at least (rears can usually go 50k).

How do you know that you need new brake pads, specifically the front?
I'm asking this because my front right wheel was smoking the other day, and it wasn't from the tire, I think it may have been a brake pad..

You have a sticking caliper then.

Yup, hopefully you don't have hotspots on the rotors or you will need new rotors too.
