Default eBay racing chips...waste of money?

In doing some surfing I've come across products such as this...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAC-R...QQcmdZViewItem

and this...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HORSE...QQcmdZViewItem

and this...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RACIN...QQcmdZViewItem

but my question is...do they really work??

$24.95 for a promised 20 hp. That should have been the first clue. If hp was that cheap, we'd all be driving Cobras. If you're seriously interested in buying a chip, check the sticky thread that talks about Chips v. Tuners.

All they do is plug int to he IAT (intake air temp) sensor and make it think the air is cooler and add timing, alot of times they actully do nothing read empty box, its stupid and a waste of money.

yah, seem to just make your system run leaner....which i would think the only outcome would be a LOSS of gas mileage?!

other way around.. lean is not enough fuel to the mix. Your mileage would drop pretty quick though when all the detonation that those IAT resistor mods cause leads the motor to self destruct with broken ring lands, mushed bearings and bent or broken rods.

If you see HP you want and it costs less than 20 bucks/hp then it's probably fake.

You get what you pay for! In this situation, it very well could be a blown motor.
