Default blown 2v's

All you guys that are stock blocks with blowers. Do you goes boost in 5th gear and will that cause any harm to the motor? When I say boost in 5th I mean topping out 5th gear. I know when I had my turbo car with a stock block my tuner told me not to boost it in 5th gear any more then a couple thousand rpms because off the heat the turbo made, but that also was in a honda.

I have heard of engine failure due to heat sink from prolonged boost, more so dropping the 7 or 8 cyl piston, probably because the coolant goes across the block to get there. But that more applies to runs to 200+ MPH. It shouldn't happen in a 1/4 mile, or during regular driving, unless your going 60 on the highway and for some reason decide to floor it in 5th instead of downshifting and just holding it there. But I doubt your that stupid. I can see that being more of a problem in a higher geared honda, especially an auto, since it would probably stay in 4th gear if you don't hammer it too hard, and just keep boosting.

BTW, just out of curiosity, how often do you accelerate to 200 MPH? I've been meaning too, but that stubborn gov. at 152...

I do it about once or twice a week.

J/k But their are a couple of cars around here that may call for me to actually shift in to 5th to stay ahead.
