Default Traction-Lok Rebuild question

I have the old one wheel peel on my 99 GT, so I ordered the rebuild kit-clutch pack. I just got it today. In the instructions, it says to disconnect the driveshaft and remove the differential assembly. Can't the clutches be removed and installed with the diff in the car? I've never done this on a Mustang. Any ideas/tips would be greatly appreciated.....like, how to compress that S spring?

Thanks

You wouldn't need to take the pinion out to remove the carrier so the driveshfat could stay. What you do need to remove are the axles, the cover (go figure), and the caps. Once these are undone, the carrier (ring gear+trac-lok unit) will come out.
