Default motor rebuild question

yea, so here i am 257 miles on a rebuilt motor. still shoots a cloud of blue smoke on start and still a cloud of smoke on moderate acceleration. i would only imagine that rings would have seated by now and no more smoke...hmm? the car does smell like its running very rich. i purchased a sct xcal 2 and straight line in new lenox leaned it out a little bit. if it were getting to much gas would it blow colored smoke out of the tailpiples? and on startup? and wouldnt the smoke be black and not blue? just trying to get some ideas b4 i take it back (hopefully not) to the machine shop

Well rings can take a bit to seat sometimes, but if its blows blue smoke at startup and constantly while running then you may have a shitty ring seal situation like you said. I would trying calling whoever did the work see what they say before doing anything else. Meanwhile keep driving it and see if it gets better. But sounds like its not going to.

Modular engines are a different breed and its not good to take it to a general mechanic, you want someone who specializes with modular blocks. This is very important with the 4v.

You should wait about 500miles give it an oil change then wait another 500 before you rev it hard. I would remove the spark plugs and see how they look.
