Well it depends me I would get a ford 8.8 rebuild kit off ebay for 40bucks new and then a rebuild kit for another 50ish. So its up to you really how you want to go about it. I would defiantly repack the posi if you have it out with that many miles.

Default posi slip

Mine has 87,000 and I know mine needs a rebuild. Took it apart tonight and its weak. Had a friend hold one wheel and I could spin the other pretty easy. Has anyone ever done a rebuild? A buddy told me that he did his and I'm better off buying a new one. I see a new posi is only like 200 and the carbon rebuild kit is 120

It is not that difficult to do yourself. The CF kit is definately worth the extra $$ because the stock replacement clutch discs can be toasted pretty quickly. Also you will want to look into the alternate repack method. The standard rebuild uses the plates in the following order: CSSCSSC (where C is a clutch plate and S is a steel plate). To get harder lockup, change the order to CSCSCSC. Essentially you salvage 2 of your best clutch discs from your old setup and repack the diff alternating clutches and steels instead of the stock stackup. This way you wind up with one additional clutch on each spider gear and better lock-up capability.

HI, this is going to be my next project too. Do you have a link to the website with the rebuild instructions? Thanks
