Default Brakes vs. LCAs

I wanted to get your guys' opinions on this. What would you rather do first. Upgrade to the cobra front brake kit or get some MM LCAs? The car doesn't really see the track and it's my daily driver. I will eventually get both, but what would you do first if you had to wait a few months or so to get the next one?

Brakes first. Traction aint crap unless you can stop it

This is a tough choice since both could potentially make your car safer. Cobra brakes stop your car sooner. However, control arms keeps your car firmly planted on the road so your car is much more predictable. Persoanally, I would go w/ control arms first since I feel that the stock GT brakes aren't that bad and if you happen to go into a turn a bit fast and hit a bump, control arms can save you from an encounter from a tree.

Depends on how you drive on the street. Id say get some brakes. Even though I think the stock GT brakes are just fine. They stop my 12 second car well enough.

same here never had a problem other then once where my stocks brakes werent good enough. And that was after two 120ish-0 stops one after the other. (back in my street racing days). Lower control arms for sure then do the brakes.

brakes hippie... and if you ask real nice I'll do the install for you in my driveway. It'll take about an hour. With all the idiotic drain boner drivers around here and the bumper to bumper 80mph traffic... definitely brakes.

You do post a mean offer there r3dn3ck. well either one would be for x-mas, so I guess if I got the brakes for x-mas then I would be spending less money myself for the LCAs. I'm thinking it just might have to be the brakes and slap on some SFCs. Then the gf can get me the gears. Sounds good to me.

well... I can get your brakes and LCA's installed pretty easy.. the subs I can get you a deal on from my neighbor... he's head wrench at Apex and a helluva welder, he'll do it for cheap. He can also set up your gears hella cheap if you want.

Whatever you get... lmk and we'll get your install hooked up right.

yeah man... any mods you need installed, check with me. I have all kinds of hookups with the stang nutz around here, and I can install most things in my driveway. Costs you some dirty hands and a Guinness (can).

Your the man R3dn3ck! Yeah I'll defanitely let you know what all I get. I was gonna ask my dad if he could weld the SFCs since he's an iron worker and thats his life, but hell, if your neighbor does all that, then I might as well go through him.

ha ha , she wouldn't even care about that. All she wants is a damn ring on her finger. Once that happens, its major mods time.

ha ha ha...I just put a ring on my girls finger in August so I know exactly what your talking about. She never said anything, but I know she'd get pissed off whenever I would get a new toy for the car.....she probably felt I should be saving for a ring and stop buying crap...anyway, she got the ring and a new townhouse...and me, well, I got the girl and house, but no money for mods! ha ha ha

Just some advice if you do put a ring on her finger.....when it comes time to plan the the wedding, just nod your head with whatever she asks and say "sounds great dear". ha ha ha

I'm lucky, my girlfriend doesn't care, as much. Hell, for Christmas, she's buying me books on how to do performance build ups on the Modular V8s. However, she wasn't too happy when it took me 10 hours to do my control arms (3 of which were spent trying to put the soft top on a Wrangler w/o instructions). I think I took her out to dinner to make her less pissed.

jjtgiants- Oh I know all about the whole nodding deal. My gf has been planning her wedding since she was a kid. I have the honor of having my DVR filled up with wedding shows every week.

I wish my gf actually cared about cars. She just wants a nice SUV and thats it. She could care less about making my stang nice or having a corvette or something. Anywho, if things work out, I might be getting both the brakes and LCAs.

I feel sorry for you man. My girlfriend actually wanted a Mustang but since her grandparents were the source of the cash, she ended up w/ an overpriced Honda. Hell she actually cares about my car and always asks how things on it work. I even got her thinking of my engine swap every time I mention my car. Thinks are working well...

I would get subframes 1st.. not sure if you have those or not but they aren't listed in you list of mods. Subframes is a great mod which will setup your car for mods in the future. Main benefits is it'll stiffen up your chasis and help keep your cars body nice and straight. I would then do the brakes. Everyone seems to always want to do power mods 1st but power is no good if you can't stop
