Default Installing 3.73s

I want to install 3.73s in my '04 GT. Right now I have the 3.55s. Problem is, I'm not completely sure how to install it. Anybody on here have any guides or can point me in the right direction to find out how to install them.

I wouldnt do this yourself unless you have someone whose done it numerous times doing it with you. Shops screw it up all the time.

BTW, this belongs in Gen Tech, not Mod Tech.

yup.. don't do it yourself. this isn't like installing a cold air intake or something like that. you have to be exactly right when its done.

Listen to them. And there is not much of a difference between 3:55's and 3:73's.

all true, it's not cake unless you've done it several times. you'll have to bite the bullet and pay to get it done, by someone that's done gears several times. someone that's done it once or not at all, screws them up. 3.55 to 3.73 will be minimal difference in feeling it. they say .18 and more, you can feel the difference, i would go atleast with a 3.90 gear, or 4.10's.

well i know for a fact if i get the 3.73's it'll shade off at least a second on the quarter mile and it'll get up there quicker like if im on the expressway and what not than my 3.55. My cousin has done these swaps a lot but he just being lazy and keeps telling me he'll do it later and later and later. 4.10's would be good yes but at the same time it'll waste a lot more gas

There's no way you will loose a second in the quarter mile by going from a 3.55 to 3.73! Maybe .10 of a second. You don't even shade off a second going from 3.27's to 4.10's. Maybe .5 of a second if you are a really good driver. Are you sure your car has 3.55's and not the stock 3.27's? If I were you I would consider 3.90's or 4.10's. It is not worth going from 3.55 to 3.73.

my car was running a 13.6 with 3.27's and once i put the 3.73s in i hit a 13.4 once but was consistant with 13.5 on street tires.

get 4.10's and pay someone to do it.

Same, unless I really d*ck around on it! Plus the feeling you get when you mash on the throttle is far better with the 4.10s. Spins from 2nd to 3rd when I punch it (and that is with 315s in the rear)!
