what is the shutoff Speed on a 2004 ,4.6Ltr G.T.

 

ive heard 135 or 145...dunno which....but y do you want to go that fast

 

Yeh I read somewhere that it was like 136 before it drops back.

 

if you have the optional z rated tires, you dont have one. If you do its rated to the other tires which are rated at 130 is it?

 

I hit 135 m.p.h when my car was stock...

 

i hit 145 in the middle off the summer and it didnt feel like it was about to stop so idk ive heard that the governer kicks in at about 155 but im not sure

 

my friends 01 GT stopped at 135...but again this is not safe!

doesnt matter where u do it unless your are on a track with the right tires and equipment to keep you safe...i dont want to see another "I Wrecked my stang goin Fast" thread

it is really not safe and anything can happen...blowout, animal in the road, other people driving, etc...

 

It is unsafe, but i'm guilty too, just curiosity of knowing how fast can it go.
I don't know what my car can do now and probably won't find out.

 

well yea i am guilty too of pushing the six to its limits...but its just unsafe i dont want a fellow enthusiast dead

With your gears, assuming redline at 5800rpm and a 26" tall tire, ~156+mph. myillwill had that pic of his doing 165. That pic was my desktop image for days.

I've exceeded 140 on both of the modular mustangs I've owned with the factory speed limiters in place.

 

I've done a 146mph when my car was stock and it started to float so i slowed down i haven't tried it with it being lowered and my steeda spoiler. I know my dad did 135 mph in it across alligator alley in Florida with my gears and everything.

 

I would think the same MPH, i know with the old 4.6 that was in it, i did hit 130 and backed off, in my 95 i went a tad past the 150 mark then my wife told me to slow down, I was racing a 96-98 Cobra on I-95, and yes I left him waaayyy behind.

 

How the hell did that happen, my old six cut off at like 115

 

Ditto. I know mine could've kept goin' but the governor is at 115. I'm hopin' to have that changed when I get the tune

i bounced my 98 gt off the governer near redline in 4th gear doin 142. 142 with a gear left, just imagine the possibilities...

 

ive hit 145...but i turned the governer off with my handheld tuner

Yeah, you can't die or kill someone else doing 109.

 

Nor can you die or kill anyone doing 55mph.

 

I have a cousin that worked in the Ford dealership for a few years. While there he bought a 02 GT hardtop 5spd new, and told me it was governed at 155, but i don't think he ever had it up that high. He got up to about 120 with me in it once.

According to my owner's manual, my snake is limited to 152..... the kicker is the manual also says it would do 152 in 4th with stock gears. I wonder what it could do with that limiter turned off, my 3.73's and 5th gear?

But the fastest I've ever seen myself go is 100 in my car....although there was this time I was next to a buddy in a Camero and I went a few seconds into 4th after near redlineing 3rd, but I never looked at my speed before hitting the brakes. I'm pretty sure with my gear 3rd is a few mph over 100 at redline.

 

I went 145 in 4th gear on spray racing a C5 ZO6.....

 

my 4th gear redlines at like 115 but i got 3.90s.

 

i have my gov turned off as well. i think the fastest i have gone is around 140. never did that again though, car felt like the bdoy was lifting off the tires, then i read that your scoops will start flying off at that speed.
