Default Brake Issue.

So i got out of football today and drove home and my brakes seemed fine. Then i went to go get a hair cut and i had to push the pedal all the way to the floor and that slowly slowed me down. So i was going like 30 down a main street that has a 40mph limit on the way home. I checked my brake fluid when i got home and it seemed really low so now im wating on my mom to get home so i can go get some brake fluid. Oh and on my way home the Brake light came on. The one that is normally on when you leave your E-brake on. Does this mean it is something more than just brake fluid?? And something else is wrong?

And one more thing...Would the cobra brake upgrade fit on 16s?

I would check for leaks first! I think the cobra brakes only fit on 17's and up, but someone should chime in here soon.

your fluid got too low and you sucked air into the system. You need to bleed the master cylinder and all 4 wheels. Start at the MC and then go to the wheel farthest from the MC and work gradually closer wheel to wheel. You should feel it firm up consistently as you bleed the brakes. This is the most likely situation. It is conceiveable that your MC is toasterfied and that's a little more involved and a lot more of a PITA but easy enough to do at home.

No a cobra brake upgrade usually requires at least a 17" wheel. Any 17" 5 lug wheel from 94-04 mustangs should work. I'd make that your very next mod... you don't even know how wonderful all that extra braking power is.

+1 on the cobra brakes!! 17's and up for sure.

Also make sure to watch while you are bleeding the system so it doesn't go dry and your work was in vain, that would suck. and if you go with cobra brakes don't forget to get the 17in spare or if you get a flat you can always jack it up in the middle of the car, take a rear wheel off, put it on the front and put your stock spare on the back. hopefully you don't have like 295's in the rear. haha.

I went and got brake fluid. And filled the resivoir up then pressed the brakes and i could hear the fluid shotting out some where. Well i found out where. I just got custom dual exhaust and it was already "fixed" once due to rattlling, but it still rattles over bumps and the exhaust tubing on the right hand side above the axle was hitting a little thing that i can best describe as kind of like a shot glass shape that the brake line ran from to the brakes. So i was squirting brake fluid all over my exhaust tubing. I just glad it didnt catch. So Monday im taking the car back to the mechanic to get my exhaust fixed (1 year warrenty) And they better fix my brakes for no charge too because their irresponsibility could have had major consequences.

End lil rant

<many curse words in rapid succession>

good catch. it would appear that they unsealed a brake line. I'd be requesting a repair and a refund. They could have KILLED you and anyone else in your path. That speaks to a major screw up and a lack of quality control.

ooooh.. you're from Iowa. Question... is Des Moines really 3 years behind in music, fashion and culture?

We are just going to another mechanic. The place i got it done gave us a deal on exhaust becuase he quoted me a price and stuck with it and they even worked 2 hours overtime on a friday so my dad wanted to pay for all that, but the guy just said come back for all your matinence things. So needless to say that they just lost a customer.

Im not sure what you mean by 3 years behind. We do have the interweb and T.V.s. and we all wear overalls and straw hats. And drive pickum up trucks.

It was actually a joke based on the "Prehistoric Ice Man" episode of South Park... I've been waiting for a chance to rip on an Iowan ever since that came out. That it ended up you was just dumb luck but you're a helluva sport for playin along.

Tell me you're joking about the straw hats...

Old farmers in small towns still wear straw hats and overalls. But not anywhere else. But pretty much Iowa is up to date on everything.
