Default Cobra Brake upgrade????? Help Needed....

So yeah I was guna just replace the pads but now i'm thinkin well if i do the pads and rotors why not just upgrade the damn things neways. The Rents will help with cost as this is a safety thing...so the price works out...

I guess if i were guna get the cobra brake upgrade i'd also have to set aside 250 for the new spare tire right?... does neone know if my rims will have any problems, i got 18x9 FR500's up front with 275/40/18 up front...

OR could i be just as fine with the Mach 1 Bullit upgrades? which is better?

Your rims will fit fine. Mach, cobra, and bullit brakes are all the same... 13" rotors, 2 piston calipers. Only difference, like purestang said, is the cobra calipers say "cobra" on them where as the mach/bullit calipers just have a pony logo. Here is a link http://www.buyfordracing.com/shop/index.php?cPath=6 a great place to buy the whole kit from.... Also, shows you the different options you have. Hope this helps!

I picked up a cobra spare off of ebay for $120 or so. There always seems to be 2-3 of them in there at any given point. You'll have lots of room left over with 18s..

Get the correct stainless lines. In my opinion, that made the biggest difference in pedal feel.

I'd get a full size spare or something like a V6 tire instead of those little doughnuts they call spares. I keep a spare 17x9 wheel and tire in the trunk. Alternatively, if you get a flat on the front you can swap a rear to the front and put your spare on the rear which I'd do anyway cuz I don't like little tiny almost-a-tire spares in front.

Someone will know for sure but I recall the Mach/03-04 Cobra/Bullit were exactly the same caliper and the 10th anniv had ever so slightly different calipers but were the same 13' rotor.

They are not the same. For some reason ,the brake lines are different. The thread is different on the calipers. Just did the conversion.

The 10th anniversary cobra calipers are painted red, that is why they are a little more expensive.

The 10th anniv Cobra brakes have slightly larger pistons as well as a different thread for the brake lines. The Mach I and standard Cobra brakes are the same with the exception of logo, the Bullitt brakes have slightly smaller pistons. If it were me, I would get the Mach I brakes for the logo, and if I wanted to drop the extra 50 bones I'd get the 10th anniv brakes for the slightly larger pistons. They all use the same rotor.

The 10th anniv cobra brakes are the biggest of all cobra brake upgrades but only by minute measurments. They will clear your wheels perfectly fine but not your spare. All rotors are the same. Pretty much everything has been said right by most of the guys. I read some nonsense here but I wont call the names out. A brake upgrade is deffinetly a great mod to do and probably one of the best. You are increasing your stopping power significantly and I also suggest stainless steel braided lines with your purchase. As you can see, I have the entire cobra 10th ann kit with Edelbrock SS lines and its probably the best thing ive done for the car.

best mod for the money. I have the baer track kit which is basically the same thing but with Baer and their little claw mark logo and heavier duty rotors. I like the red painted ones for bling factor but mine are flat gray and silver.

cool, great info guys, so I guess the bottom line is if i want Red calipers go Mach 1 10th anniversary cobras? lol and get stainless steel brake lines when i do the upgrade also... k...

sry but i do have one more question, now that the front is pretty much figured out (i'll probably just do the Cobra brakes) what upgrades do they have for the rear? just new pads and rotors? and do the brake upgrades come with a set of pads to start out with?...

sry for all the questions but I wana know as much as possible before i go and throw money down on some **** I don't need or isn't the best...

Thnx

backs are useless. I got em just because im picky about my brakes matching, and the pair deal came along so i grabbed em. Your backs are fine, just get pads and rotors if needed. Fronts come with everything you need. Calipers, rotors, and pads already packed. With backs, you need a bracket kit which MT now offers as a package deal with the rear calipers, but those come with pads already as well.

Also the red calipers are the 10th ann, and the bullitts, the mach 1s are black

I juat saw MattJ caught it. Tha Mach's are grey/black, the bullitts and 10th annvrsy are red with the pony logo and the cobra's say cobra. I got the Machs and did black powdercoat with some "cobra" stickers to add a nice touch. regardless of which one you get, make sure you specify when you get the stainless lines (I had to get 1 new banjo bolt because I guess there's a subtle difference between cobra and mach threads)?

Yeah the 10th ann need the banjo bolts and you need to remove one of the washers for correct fitment. Fronts are a walk in the park to install.

I'd upgrade the pads in the rear to bring the whole system close to factory balance. Hawks squeak so I'd use EBC Green. Stock rotors are fine. It's kinda hard to swap over to a cobra rear kit (compared to not).

Baer makes a 13" kit for the rear that's affordable and uses your stock calipers. I know steeda sells it don't know if MT does. That's a real nice looking kit. It won't have much effect on braking performance but it looks cool.
