i voted hawks, but that is only because I have them. Mine are on a CObra, but I assume since all the HPS series have the same compounds, that they would work just as well on a V6. Aside form some noise at first, (most likely due to new roter not pads) I love the hawk pads, on my car they have yet to lock up at all, would throw you out the windshield if u weren't strapped in, and have actually saved me from a wreck once. ( someone in front of me saw one of those gravel "authorized vehicles only" u turn areas on the freeway and decided rather suddenly that they were authorized.)

With any race-spec pads like baer, hawk, greenstuff, ect... you sacrafice something like wear, noise, brakedust, to get higher performance. When I went with my cobra brakes, I went with OEM pads and rotors instead of upgrading. A lot of people tend to forget that OEM offers longevity and good performance.
But as they are, your stock brakes are crap. Instead of paying money for a rotor resurface, and new pads, and install, you should just upgrade to the front cobra upgrade for 400 bucks and have the whole-shabang for a tad more than you would pay to have it done anyways.

I prefer EBC in back and OEM pads in front for a street car on a 4 wheel cobra kit (11" rear, 13" front) for GT's and stock brakes for 6ers. EBC do make a good bit of dust but not more than stock. Hawk squeal like a cheerleader on prom night. If you go to big wheel and tire packages you might consider a cobra front brake upgrade to handle the extra rotating mass. I always thought the stock brakes were totally unacceptable on GT's and barely satisfactory on 6ers.

99+ V6 and GT's share the same brakes. GT's just have the hydraboost...

I realize that they have the same brakes which is the cause of them sucking bawlz on GT's and barely making acceptable on 6ers. Gt's are fully a couple hundred pounds heavier and need more than that IMO.
FWIW I'm not certain that v6's don't have the hydrobooster though... without it you'd have manual brakes. I seem to recall they both used the identical booster and MC as well as the caliper/rotor package. post an underhood photo of your car if you would so I can see and refresh my memory.
I am of the opinion that the 10.8" fronts are totally underpowered for V8 cars and almost underpowered on v6 cars.

We don't. A member of my club is doing a V8 swap and is looking for a Gt's brake parts.

Cuban, thanks for the info. I'll note that in my noggin.
mega ditto's to the above. For 400 bucks you'll have more braking power than you'll know what to do with and it's still perfectly streetable. If you do go the cobra route, leave the stock rear rotors and calipers in place and drop in some EBC or hawk pads in the back. That'll help balance out the system again without costing way too much. OEM type pads are best for the fronts with such a setup. More aggressive pads in front aren't needed.
BTW... install it yourself. It's stupid easy and pretty quick to do in the driveway.

No problemo. And I agree I love my front 03 cobra set-up. Best $250 I ever spent...so far

My stock brakes suck. Under 50mph theyre pretty dependable. When you REALLY need to stop at high speeds, theyre dangerous feeling to me. I felt slightly better stopping power by switching from stock pads all around, to carbon mettalic pads all around. Still they suck.
Are the cobra brakes good for a track car or no? How much better are the Cobra Rs than the regular cobras? Plain rotor or slotted?
