Default seafoam

well, i've read the post on how to put seafoam in my vac line, but i was wondering how many people have actually used this stuff and if its really worth it or not. I have 35k on my 03 GT now, and its time to start doing **** like this to keep everything smooth. my thoughts on rough idle and the like are if you feel it you waited too long to do something about it. Im big on preventing such things rather than hoping i wont have to deal with them.

thanks

I've always been a big fan of the sea foam, I did my '02 last month as it crossed the 30K mile marker. Made a slight but noticeable difference in idle, and acceleration.

yes..it is worth it on lower mileage cars....and if kept up with....high milage cars....but dont do it too much..it will foul up the injectors and plugs

i planned on changing my oil just after i finished with the seafoam, to make sure any left over crud gets out. I was also thinking about doing a motor flush just after the seafoam, then changing my oil.

uhhh... yeah. Injectors can be fouled by caking crap on them. Fuel clogs them after a while, so I can't imagine why some crud being sucked through the vacuum line into the intake might just leave some residue.

Now, will someone quickly and concisely educate me on what seafoam is and why everyone seems to think it's so great? I'll search too but might as well clarify the thread.

it mostly just removes carbon deposits from the engine. you can also pour the stuff in yur gas tank or oil. i havent tried either of those yet.

Nevermind. I've gotten all the info I need now.

You all might want to look at the MSDS for this product. You're not adding any magic bullet to your motor...you're adding frickin Zippo Fluid, Rubbing Alcohol and base petroleum oil (light).

Pale oil is just a base or process oil refined until its color, by transmitted light, is straw to pale yellow.

which leaves naptha and Isopropyl alcohol. Naphtha is Zippo fluid/Ronsolol. My favorite degreaser and lighter-makie-workie-juice. If you're unfamiliar with Iso Propyl Alcohol, just don't even talk.

The product is a very volatile degreaser suspended in a light oil and nothing else. nonetheless, it's exactly perfect for what you're using it for.

You can see the MSDS at www.aossguns.com/images/car/seafoam_msds.pdf . You're welcome for hosting that file for you.

Jon i went back and read your tutorial on the seafoam. And I had a question about the vacuum line. Is it the vacuum line that connects to the CAI or is it a whole other line?? and if it helps i drive a 95 V6

how often do you get your car dynoed? First it was the hood, and now sea foam???
