me vs my friend

Are both cars auto or manual? Also is the Maxima the v6 model or standard 4cyl modle? If it's a 5spd or Auto v6 model your more than likely going to lose. They run mid to high 14's in the 1/4 stock where as your v6 mustang is a 15sec 1/4 car. On the upper hand, if your friend isnt a very good driver you could very easily beat him, or if your not the best, he could smoke you. Best way to find out.......GO RACE and tell everyone the results, it's pointless to ask just go do it.

My fault, I was thinkin of the Altima which you can get either 4cyl or 6cyl. Also the Max, did come as a 4cyl in the late 90's early 00 still...Friend had one in high school. And yes the newer v6 Maxima's stock are pulling 14's...it's called having a good driver. Yea they are an import so torque is where they lack alot.
Not trying to bust anyones bubble, but what is the point of racing two stock cars?? Is it for bragging rights betwen two friends or what...since i see it's a wasteful use of gas at this point...

and here is a supercharged max. Thats pullin mid 14's http://www.dragtimes.com/Nissan-Maxi...eslip-954.html and your saying that is a stock time?

ok, well if they never had a 4cyl in them, then why did my best friend in high school's '98 or '99 maxima come with a 4cyl from the nissan dealer????? Factory option maybe? Either way it's still a slow import either way you look at it. As for a supercharged one only runin 14's...that sucks im sorry. I watched 2 '03+ maxima's run 14.7-14.9 passes. One had a Injen CAI, the other had CAI/Apexi exhaust..both were manual also. Obviously whoever drove the supercharged one cant drive.
I'm not gonna argue the fact any longer, i saw the two run their times and was very impressed with a 4door family car running those times. But they are still slow so whats the point of arguing?

I'm sorry, but I'm just going to have to call BS Blk02Stang..you can claim that all you want..a Stock nissan maxima doesnt run the 1/4 mile in 14 seconds..not even if its a v6

mid 80's to recent maxima's came with v6's... 3.0 liter v6's with the oil filter behind the rear exhaust manifold. I know it to be the case as I have 3 very distinct "maxima kisses" from pulling said oil filters in a quick lube I used to run.
See...never take a techs word for it. They'll always assume they know everything and are always proven wrong on the minutae. 14's in the 1/4... maybe. That was a strong engine and a fairly light car.

pulls a 15.1 the 04's and newer are a 15.5, Due to the heavier car. These are manufacter specs. Numbers that very few people in the real world can ever duplicate.

There is a reason why we assume we know every thing. Techs work on the same cars everyday. Thats what happens. I did do some more reserch on the subject. A bone stock 03 3.5 Maxima with the six speed according to the manufacter

so you are saying that a normal person cant pull those times on the same car? so ur saying that i cant get a 13.9 when a professional driver gets a 14.1 stock for stock?

I do believe there are the factory freaks running around my own personal GT with a short shifter and a catback pulled a 14.0 but he was talking about almost a half second reduction in times. Just a little far fetched I would think.

Auto V6 Maxima vs Auto 99-04 V6 Stang
The only non-worthless mod on either car was that the Stang had 25% UDPs, but I'm sure that doesn't make a huge diff anyway.
I'm going to go with the Mustang, just make sure you turn O/D off..

Sadly I was at the track today and saw a couple newer v6 maxima's run....even lower then 14's with a few bolt-ons! One went 13.4, another went 13.6 and the last one was a 14.1!! Sadly...the quicker of the 3 had a CAI/Catback/ Jim Wolf tune/ and was one 19's!!!!
#20
isnt a 13.4 more like what an LS1 camaro would run? I dont see a maxima with a "few bolt ons" ever running lower than a 14.5. It doesnt add up, those cars are slow as *****.
#21
it would seem that ***** have sped up since you last checked. and yeah... I'ma haffa call BS on the pure NA low 13's. They HAD to be using nitrous. A stock 99+ GT would totally blow past a maxima and a camaro is faster than a stock 99+ GT so I don't see a pure NA maxi-pad making low 13's without a power adder.

It's very possible they could have had the n2o on them, but i cant 100% rule it out. I saw under the hood of both cars runnin 13's and i didnt see any kind of n2o set up, unless it was hidden well like mine is. The one running 13.4's had his trunk open also and no bottle there either...as for the interior was a bit stripped out too. Either way, they rolled out good and was very impressive....untill they lined up against a blue Mach 1 that was spankin most of the import cars in that class. Mustang FTW!!
