Default Which gears?

Ok which gears should I get for an 8.8 rear end? I'm going to my highschool drags and I want a faster start. I still need the car to be streetable because it is my daily driver. I also don't want to ruin my gas mileage that I just fixed. Also, do I have to change anything in the stock rear end if I buy new gears? Is everything compatible? Do you guys know what spline 28 or 31 in a stock rear end? Please hurry the meet is May 16th!

stock rear end in your car is 28 spline axles. i would get 4.10's cause yours is an auto a and i would also go onto to ebay to get these parts, and also if you look for clutch pack rebuild kits you can find some for 40 bucks to rebuild the posi so it spinds two wheels all the time. cause a posi that old needs to be rebuilt. its very easy to do. but i bet the guy who does your gears would do it for an extra like 30-50 bucks. its well worth it.

Will 4.10s be too crazy. I mean I do alot of freeway driving from 55-80mph. What do you think now. I don't want to hurt my fuel economy alot. Is there a happy medium or are 4.10s it?

With 4.10 it would not be to crazy on the highway cuase you have an aod with a .67 overdrive at 70 mph with 4.10 the engine will only be churning 2500 rpms and at 3000 rpms you would be doing 80. my 5spd lx with 3.73 has gotten 24.6 mpg going down the highway Id definetly go with the 4.10's

4.10's sound kind of crazy for a 5.0!!!!! the 5.0 motors dont have nearly as much rpm as the newer 4.6's!!!! i would go with the 3.73 or 3.55 so far i have had really good good luck with the 3.55's good grip and you still have rpm on the highway drives! if you get 3.73 or 4.10's make sure you change that drive shaft! let me know whatppens

4.10s shouldn't be that harmful to your gas since you have overdrive...on going 3.73s or 3.90s on my mustang, because its only a 3 speed (c-4). even with 3.73s you will haul ***.

Which company would you suggest if I went with a 3.73 or 3.90?
