help me decide which gears
sup guys.. its finally time i got my gears now that i have the sct xcal2 to adjust the speedo. Many months ago when I was trying to plan stuff out I decided on 3.73s because this car is my daily driver. After reading and talking to people about how awesome 4.10s are I changed my mind again. Here's my weekly driving routine of my car.. everyday that i go to work (about a 20 minute drive) the speed limit is 45, sometimes i got 50-55 and put it in 5th, i do the same thing home. when i go back to school in the fall ill have to take the interstate for about 5 minutes and get off and i only go to class 2 nights a week. i usually go to the track almost every friday (might take a week off here and there) and i drive a little over an hour on the interstate to get there. if i need to go to my tuners for some reason i have to drive 3 hours on a highway (ive only been there once so far and that was recently). ok now, here is my track conditions.. im racing on a 1/8th track so gears are crucial to my time. the closest 1/4 mile track is 2 1/2 hours away, i will make the trip there but its only gonna happen a few times during the racing season so i will end up at 1/8th tracks a lot more. me and my dad think 3.73s is the way to go for me because its gonna give me that extra umph and also keep my car affordable when i have to drive around town or make trips (im already using 93 octane gas). let me hear your opinion please im going to be buying these gears in the next couple days!
also.. my car has almost 34,000 miles and we will be installing them ourselves with a guy whos done this all his life, he has the press we need and everything. should i get the bearing kit still? im getting the FRPP gears so i shouldn't need the installation kit cuz thats just the shims, right?
thanks in advance and sorry so long!!

I wish I could drive a stock gt with 3.73's and then drive a stock GT with 4.10's and feel the difference myself.... :hmh:

neck breaking is what i want.. i love that. i rode in a viper recently and got a headache cuz my head kept slamming against the seat lol
thats not a bad proposal, very tempting.. ill talk it over with my dad but most likely i'll do that. when did you plan to get gears?

i too had a difficult time deciding wich gears to put as well. i took in to consideration many things: like the many miles i make to go to work in the hyway. i dont go to the track cuz the closes one that i can think its a few hrs away. but after much debating i decided to go with FRPP 4.10's. i just want to have that umph from the line while i'm waitng at the light. lol...i have less than 6k on my car, so i didnt get the master bearing kit. u on the other hand are getting close to the border line. if u have the money to cough it up, get the master bearing kit for insurance.

Ask yourself one question, are you EVER getting a supercharger. If there is any doubt in your mind, get the 4.10s. That is coming from a guy with the 3.73s who wishes that he had 4.10s even thought in the very DISTANT future, I might have a blower. Just get them and be done with it instead of getting the 3.73s and "maybe" getting a supercharger later. Alright, good luck makin the decision, cause it sucks.

ok.. so I'm buying the FRPP 4.10 gears.. they come with shims. What comes in the installation kit then? lol
and my dad said I shouldn't need to replace bearings because it takes a long time for them to go out normally, I dunno

nevermind really, motive's descriptions are much better for those kits, I shouldn't need them as it says only needed for 60k miles and up
but instead of doing rear end upgrades im goign to go with these along with the gears..
Steeda Firewall Cable Adjuster
Steeda Double Hook Quadrant
Steeda Adjustable Clutch Cable
but instead of doing rear end upgrades im goign to go with these along with the gears..
