Default 4.6L intakes... Truck model?

Hey guys:

Have any of you seen up close the intake for the 4.6L equipped F150's? I saw one in a craigslist ad recently and it was aluminum. I'm wondering if it flows any better than the mustang intake.

Anyone? Bueller?

It might flow better but arent the heads on the pistons different for the F150 than the Mustang? That intake for the 4.6L Mustang (99-04) is designed around PI heads, hence why you cant use the PI Intake Manifold on a 96-98 because of the lack of those heads.

The whole point of the modular engine is that of the name. its modular (interchangable parts for those who didnt pay attention in school) I dont see why it wouldnt fit up if the heads are the same. The f150s should be PI and I dont know why they would use outdated and lower performance parts on something used for work and pulling and such.

Then again if they did, im sure the mustang GT boys (and girls) would of heard about it because of our crappy plastic manifold.

The truck intakes are designed to produce torque not HP. Your car would fall flat on its face with a truck intake on it.

Yep,
they make tourqe not Hp. and they are very tall you would need a monster hood ot clear one. Basicly this thread is done dont do it.

first, I'm not a n00b. Don't treat me like one. I've asked a technical question for people with the correct answer to post on. responses like "blah.. thread is done dont do it." is kinda totally unhelpful. If the thread was done I could have found some info on in on my own by searching.

MTShambles... truck and car 4.6's are all the same year for year for the most part. Trucks seem to have gotten PI heads 1 year later than the mustang but it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. You can swap parts back and forth with little difficulty. Swapping a PI intake onto a non-PI motor is good for about 15hp and a popular mod. The trucks got longer runner taller sitting intakes because you could fit a 14" runner torque monster intake under the flat hood of a bigass pickup without a problem.

I never alluded to using it in a mustang and that's not the plan. Hood clearance isn't an issue. Now can someone answer the question?

It makes Hp not tourqe it doesnt not flow better then the the plastic mustang intake. So like i said this thread is dead. Its a truck intake and its not really good for anything else. i wasnt being a dick either i was stating there is no use for it unless you are going to build a 4.6,5.4 for a truck, then you would want one..

actually spike.. if you'd unplug the feather from your azz that seems to be tickling the shiitt out of you and pay attention just a little to the words coming out of my fingers (you'd think a moderator would have this skill):

1. You'd have understood enough to see you've contradicted yourself and destroyed any credibility you had. One minute it's for torque, the next it's for HP... dude figure it out if you're going to proffer advice about it. :loser:

FYI.. It's not for either. It's for a certain amount of both. It's probably designed to give a wide tq band, a narrow hp band, and it has to fit under a hood that's 10" above the engine. That's the limit of the design criteria. In order for it to be biased toward HP it would have to outflow the mustang intake by a substantial margin since the mustang plastic piece is tq biased and runs out of flow at about 5200 RPM. Please either pay attention to accuracy or keep out of my thread. You've been a hinderance twice now, and provided inaccurate info at least once.

2. it's destiny is none of your damn business. The fact that I asked for FLOW NUMBERS means that I'm aware of the complications and capable of doing the math. Quit making an *** out of u and me (assume) and either add to the discussion or leave it to those that can.

3. You keep calling it a "truck" intake. There is no such thing. There are designs that are appropriate to torque bias, those that are better for HP bias, and those that are going to be modified so ****** far beyond their original appearance that you'd never recognize them, so answer the god damned question or shut up please Mr. Moderator, Sir.

Now then, I only care about the ANSWER to the QUESTION I ASKED. All other info is outside the scope of this discussion.
