Default Scratching sound @ 2000-2200 rpm

I got distracted the other day when I was pulling out in first gear and my car kind of rattled. Now, whenever I'm around 2000-2200rpms I can hear this slight, almost "scratching" sound. It's hard to tell where it's coming from exactly. Anyone had a similar experience? Anyone know what might be the problem?

Thanks in advance...

Raise the car on jackstands and put the trans in gear and let the cars wheels turn. You can get out and listen from the outside. If it's not coming from the drivetrain.Try turning the front wheels while having a helper turn the steering wheel. If this doesn't help, drive around with the windows down and see if you can duplicate the sound.

My car isn't modded too heavily. Pretty much the basics, cold air intake, short throw shifter, exhaust. My clutch is about ready to bite the dust, and I'm replacing that this weekend. I'm hoping that might be part of the problem. I'm also going to switch my gear fluid while I'm at it. I'm going to look in that and the oil to make sure that I'm not really grinding anything.
