Default dropping a Cobra engine into a V6?

hey i was wondering... what would it take to drop a Cobra engine into a 2003 V6? and how expensive would everything be...? would it be worth it? or would it be better to just buy a Cobra...?

Also you would have to change the trans and the rear too handle the new power.

reason i am asking is because i am going to Iraq soon for a 2nd tour of duty and i will come back with about 15-20k. i am thinking of either getting a Cobra or keeping my 6'er and changing the motor out. (i do love my 6'er, and dont wanna part with it)

I think you would be better off just buying a Cobra. Not dissing your V6 but you will be putting alot of money into swapping everything out and in the end you still only have a V6 with a Cobra motor. With the cash you will have and the trade in of your car you could get a Cobra for a real good price.

And who knows how many problems you will run into after you swap everthing out.Way too much work in my opinion.

I'd say your looking at around $10,000 by the time you would be done.Maybe more.Alot of stuff to change too do it right.

I love my car too and would hate too let it go.But for a Sweet 03/04 Cobra I think I could do it

I've seen the swap done on mustangworld awhile ago but took the guy forever and he ended up spending the same amount doing the swap as it would to just get a Cobra.....deffinitely not worth the hassle......and its not going to be perfect there will always be something wrong

it costs 10k for a blown cobra motor alone. Nevermind a rear end or tranny. It not worth the trouble, just buy a cobra.

i say go for the swap. it will be alot cheaper for the swap than to buy an 03/04 cobra. a front clip to include the tranny can be had for about 4-4.5k. it will probably cost about 10k to get it done. insurance would be cheaper and it would be completely reliable if you have it installed right. just dont cut any corners.

Dont do it just buy a cobra. I am doing a swap with a 98 Cobra and GT and its expensive. It would of been cheaper to buy a 98 Cobra and rebuild that motor but since the car has sentimental value to my wife Im doing the swap. Motor swap is about 10k but this is for a motor able to handle about 800-1000 hp. The 98 Cobra and GT share alot of components so it is not as complicated as other years or models like the v6. Sell your v6 and with the cash you are getting buy a Cobra or Mach 1 and add a supercharger.
