Exclamation Exhuast and Performance Chip Help

If anyone has these products what do you htink?

Well i have v6 4.0L 2005 mustang. I'm thinking of a magna flow exhuast for my mustang.
http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?product_id=16605

This is my first car and i don't know how it will turn out and i don't want to make any bad decisions. I would like to know about the sound. Will it sound like a v8, and if not will it at least sound beasty and not like some rice burner.
Also if theres a better choice out there please go ahead and post a link and tell me about it.

As for the chip i was thinking of the sct mustang tuner. I have found a couple for this years model but they don't promise as good of resluts from there product. I would like to know if this is the best choice in chip or if theres a better one out there. My limit on a chip is around $300.
http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?product_id=16605 Please if there is post a link and what makes it better.

Thanks for any help.

First of all it will never sound like a v8. v6's have a much different firing order. Magnaflow usually does sound alot more high pitched unless you get mac long tube headers and the right type of crossover.

if u have an automatic it works wonders...

it puts in shift points that helps accell and adds a couple hp

if ur not pushing the car it will work like the normal auto...but when u really push it it will shift at all the right points just like if u had a manual

and...i can actually patch between first and second if i hit it right

like i raced my same identical car...04 sixer with exhaust and intake (auto) except i had a chip and he did not

i beat him by alot...i didnt know the chip would do that much but i beat him by 2 car lengths or more

chip is good investment...although it does void warrenty on tranny i think which was my mistake cause i still have 16000 left on the warranty

well my 6er has a pretty good jump as it is with the shifting and ****.. all those GT jackasses flipped out when I said that the car can hit 120 easy, and the tactometer was only reading 3,000.. maybe 3,500 in 4th when it hits my gov.

I don't know I don't think I have any more waranties on it, but I may bring it down to a shop and have them figure out whats all *on-it.* Because I'm only sure of the things that I was told it comes with, but there were already aftermarket products that I found I had after the purchase... so, I'll look into it, thanks buddy.

o yea dude...just dont hit that on the stock tires...the will go BOOM

but yea i got to like 90 or so in 3rd and then it shifted to 4th and boom accelled to 120 the 125...the dont know cause it was maxed and when i maxed it out...it was only at like 4k so it would go faster

Yeah I actually want to see what the max it can handle without causing engine damage. What makes me think (and I believe you said it earlier) that the engine can actually go further is because you hit your rev-limiter at such a high speed and the car is only at the 3,500 range of RPMS (depending on a lot of stuff.) My shift point is 6000RPMS, and if it can only push 3,500 at 120... you gotta think what its maximum achivement could be.

Just get an Xcal II.Will do the same thing and you can put the stock tune back on it if you take it in for repairs!!!

Also you have alot of advantages over a chip.

How much extra get up does the chip actually give? I notice a top extra of 35 mph. What i want to know is how much faster the 0-60 is? anyone go an answer to that?

Taylor,

If you go with exhaust looking for performance gains...you may end up disappointed. Duals look and sound awesome, but (esp with the kit you linked), you can really lose some low end power (and by that I mean even in the 3000 RPM range).

For the v6, that 2.5" piping would probably be too much. Apparently, a dual set-up 6 er should use about 2.0" piping, if not less.

Check out this link... http://www.3.8mustang.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146265

and scroll down to the 6th post (by ilyak).

I just say be cautious...don't want to spend all the money and then not really see any power gains (in fact actually lose some).
