Default v6 Intake

What is the best intake for my 2004 v6 mustang? BBK, MAC, K&N, or other? Also about the MAC...what is the difference between the "regular" CAI and the "straigh-shot" CAI?

an intake on our v6's are really not worth the money ull get 1-2 hp out of it for like 180$ not worth it just get a k&n filter and be done with it and spend that money on something else

Ok...i planned on taking off the silencer and now put a k&n filter in...i notice you have a dual flowmaster exhaust...i can't decide between dual flowmasters, magnaflows, or get an adapter and SLP Loudmouth...i want a powerful, deep tone...do you have a sound clip so I can compare on a v6?

idk why those people get cai i think its a watse of money

NO DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT GET FLOWMASTER IM very dissapointed in them VERY

theres a clip in the vid sections of TCLARKS v6 that has magna flows that also sounds good also in GRIMMMZZZ sig he has clips of his spin tech side exhaust sounds great also

im planning since i already have the gt bumper to get a slp x pipe and slp catback thats what i would suggest to you either get a v6 exhaust or get an x pipe getting the adapter i dont think is worth it ive herd a v6 with the setup that i plan on getting soon and its sounds badass for a v6

hope that helps

I hear good things about K&N. I like their website...it lists more accurate numbers (ie they don't give the customer B.S. like "our intake will give you 15 rwhp!"). I think they rated the 2005 v6 with it's intake at about 7 added rwhp. Not sure about the pre 05 models. I also called their customer service once, and they were very helpful and courteous. I think that says alot about the company and its products.

I use a K&N oil filter, and saw a 47 rwhp increase. It only cost me 14 bucks. Also, I will be getting GT emblems soon, which should bump me up to around 70.

Those numbers are only on certain applications in the right situation. You will not seem more then a 3-4 hp gain dont do it. Get u/d pulleys or gears...

Idk what they're all talkin about with teh CAI, but Mting has one for 75 bucks...it will deepend your full throttle noise a lil bit, create a rushin air sound when you let go of the gas, and improve hp 4-6 hp...those are the dynoed numbers on a Mac so i'd assume it's there too... it also lets your engine breath easier... CAI is cheap so why the hell not...and it does help...but not in the HUGE numbers some people/imports say...

that being said I can not say enough how good Spin Tech Mufflers sound on a V6, they just sound better all around then normal FLows or anything else...and with LTs and a mid pipe they will sound EVEN better...

I have a K&N Cold Air... and **** I hear it whistle everytime it sucks in air, even when I'm kicking it in at around 70MPH... go with the K&N

for the added cost of say the MT CAI, it isn't going to give much if any advantage to hp, but will at least give you something cool and shiny to look at under the hood...so whatever...

I thought about MAC exhaust, and I've thought about Magnaflow Exhaust...after seeing this vid though...i think ima go with SLP...magnaflow and mac aren't aggressive enough 4 my taste...

plus...wouldnt removing the silencer and puttin in a $70 K&N filter be just about as helpful as a K&N $180 CAI? That seems to be the vibe i'm gettin...lol

well...i know it wouldn't be quite as aggressive..i'm thinkin the loudmouth II catbacks and the catted x pipe, but i think someone said you didn't need the converter (because slp doesnt make v6 exhauts) Will it fit wo/ it?

thats odd...it seems then that they wouldnt have an adapter...they'd just say if you want this gt exhaust on a v6 then you need an x-pipe...so they'd go right onto the headers before they goto the y pipe? instead of connecting to the y pipe that is...

Do I need an x-pipe for it to fit? Or can I just take off the y pipe and put it on? I found a kit that has an SLP Loudmouth II exhaust and SLP catted x-pipe for $799, but thats kinda $$$.

Hopefully after i get my tax returns in april i'll be able to get my LTs and new mid pipe...otherwise magna flow and Spin Tech seem to be pretty nice sounding... the cool thingis mine is side exit, and theres nothing left in the back..

as far as intake, just got MTing for 70 bucks and u'll go home a happy camper...ur not guna make a HUGE hp difference neways...

there is not much of a sound change imo. some say it deepens it, but you will notice when you let off the gas, or under hard acceleration, there will be a slight wistle that imo resembles sort of a turbo sound(very slightly) and that is all sound wise you will hear...

Dude, honestly worry about Long Tube headers and an h-pipe from Mac...click the link in my sig for the 3.8 forum stuff and u can hear some clips of them...otherwise Spintech and Magnaflow have been known to give great sounds...

Yeah, i've always looked @ long tube headers into h-pipes, and then a side exit...i remember someone saying that's the best v6 sound
