Default Transmission locked up

So I was driving my car home earlier and as I was climbing my hill to my house the transmission started acting up, and was vibrating hardcore. When I pulled into my driveway it stalled out as if it wasn't disengaging. What are my options?

Try a new torque converter?
Rebuild the transmission?
Buy a used 4r70w?

Also if I get a used 4r70w does it matter what it comes out of? V6/V8? Or as long as it has the electronic hookups?

Thanks guys.

UPDATE!

I pulled a transmission off of a 2000 v6 and installed it. The tranny had 28k miles so it should last until my car is totally destroyed. The only difference was a sensor on the side of the transmission that i slid out and put mine in from my old tranny. I've drove it 10 miles so far and it feels like a completely different vehicle. Once I took the old one off it had fluid all over the inside of the bellhousing. I have no idea what happened but I guess it was just going out since I first got the car because there was always a vibration with overdrive off in the final gear. The only thing I dont like about my new transmission is that it doesnt seem to lock into gears like my old one did. But maybe my old one wasnt supposed to do that. Either way I've got wheels again!
