Question Mac Lontube Headers?

I was wanting to get a new set of headers for my stang and I was wanting to know if I would have to change my stock exaust setup if I was wanting to put the longtude headers on.

Your entire exhaust system would need to be changed. Long tube headers are much longer then the stock ones, thus being called "long tube" headers. You would then need the matching H-pipe for the long tubes which is also sold by MAC. Then you would need a GT catback of whatever choice you want.

Its a nice setup and makes the v6 sound good, and when used with nitrous or a supercharger, it really makes wakes the car up.

they also will eventually leak at the flange/gasket and scrape over speed bumps and generally find a way to be a hassle. If I were you I'd find a better way to get the sound you want without blowing 2 grand on parts and labor for something that's going to be a PITA to own down the road.

I can't see a stock height v6 scraping very much.

As far as gasket leaking, MAC started shipping all their headers with copper gaskets years ago.

I was thinking about going with some Mac Long Tubes for mine but i changed my mind and am going with just some replacement JBA headers and custom pipes from my H to the headers with out cats. we dont have emissions here. I already have scraping issues with out Long tubes so idk what i am gonna do if i every want to lower it.

I never put 2 and 2 together that it would scrape. My cats scraped ALL THE TIME, so I could see the header problems. Too bad too, cause they would sound awesome.

I went with Mac long tubes and their o/r h pipe. Mufflers are your choice but I had a Mac cat back and switched to a Magnaflow cat back. I like the sound of the Magnaflow a lot better on the v6. I used my stock gaskets and havn't had a problem with any gasket leaks. As far as scraping goes, depends on how low your car is and how bad the area is. My car is pretty damn low and i scrape just about every heavy duty speed bump and steep driveways. It's unavoidable considering my mid pipe flanges are 2 inches off the ground. It only scrapes the flanges so I'm not worried about it, and it doesn't happen often. Just take them extra slow and cautiously and you'll usually clear them. At stock height though, you got nothing to worry about lol.

Yeah but if I ever plan to get it lowered which I was thinking about doing kind of soon, I would be screwed. I also do not want to have to change my whole exaust setup for a v-6. What I was looking for was a moderate looking sound for my v-6 without having to change my whole exaust setup.

I reccomend this to everyone. For the best exhaust change that doesnt sound out of control raspy. Just put a flowmaster 40 series in place of ur stock muffler, and put a AmericanMuscle cold air intake on it. And you will be SOO happy. It's all i got on my car and it sounds perfect for a v6. After all is said and done you will be out 200 bucks maybe. I wish I had a good cam to capture the sound of my car.

Just seen you had a CAI,, Just put a flowmaster 40 series on it. And see what you think.

In ^ that case, I'd go with a Super 44 flowmaster.

Again I will have to disagree with you. Sure it may be cheaper. But you will see/feel more gains with a true dual exhaust setup up, and more than likely it will sound better. In fact heres a link to my exhaust video.

get a catback don't just switch out the muffler... unless you really love your rusted downward turning single exhaust tip

i agree with some of these, if your gonna do anything to your exhaust with minimal changes you should get a catback, i personally like flowmaster 40 series, i think those would sound the best

i'm thinking about getting pacesetter long tube headers, do yall have any info on those that could help me decide?

How about: I've never met anyone that bought pacesetter that was happy with it... you really do get what you pay for.

^ the video says they are spin tech mufflers with a true dual mid pipe.
I honestly think magnaflows sound way better.. or super 44s.

Heres what you could do...
Find 99-04 gt exhaust setup for cheap...
get it welded..
Mac cat back exhaust with CAI does make a big difference in sound and even some good torque.. It will bring a smile to your face... promise..

If you can afford a little more.. i would next get sum pulleys on..
I would think you could purchase all that for under $400 and put on
