Default whining noise in engine bay????

there is an annoying noise and im not sure what it is. It sounds like a winding or whining noise and ive had 2 people tell me that it is prolly the power steering needs to be topped off, but i checked and there is some in there doesnt really seem like it needs any and there isnt a fill line on the tube itself. i dont feel anything when i turn the steering wheel or anything like that. I stuck my head right there and it sounds like the alternator but the power steering is right next to it so im not entirely sure. Could the alternator be going out?? I got a new battery like 3 months ago and i HAVE NOT had problems starting the car. Any ideas or tips for me to check?? its pretty annoying cause i cant really hear the exhaust but when i floor it in 2nd gear it kinda sounds like a supercharger 8) but i need to fix it

i bought some power steering fluid and refilled the resivour but it still making the noise
I guess that narrows it down to the alternator. So how hard is it to replace it, just release tension on belt, unbolt the old, rebolt the new and re-tension the belt??? oh yeah disconnect the battery first right lol

does it only do it when you turn the wheel? If so its your power steering.

Yeah if the noise changes when you are idling and moving the steering wheel side to side its pump. And pretty much once they make noise it means the bearing are bad and its over.

Many people totally forget to check and change their power steering fluid which is why so many cars have loud PS pumps. I change mine every 3 years or so. Or when the fluid gets dark and starts to smell burnt.
