whistling noise coming from engine bay.
as of recent I have noticed a whistling noise coming from my engine bay. Im pretty sure its coming from my air filter area. I have removed my Air silcener a while ago but am just now hearing this whistle type noise. Actually more of a sucking. When I was recharging my my K&N air filter one of the gaskets came off and the lip may or may not have been bent. Do you think this could be the cause of the the noise? I am not debating on what to do. I know K&N has a lifetime warranty on there filters but dont know the details.
Input would be appreciated

I just find it odd that its the first time I have heard it before. but you would think I would have heard it before even when i went for a test drive around the block after installing it. I even checked to make sure there was any air leaks after I installed it....

well just took it out again with the roommate to see if he could hear it. But I couldn't hear it at all. Must have just been a fluke and the weather last night. Ill keep an eye it and see if it comes up again.

Are you getting this whistle at certain RPMS? Or is it a screetching noise at idle? Anyways some people report a screetching not related to the intake. My intake whistles at diff rpms and its a nice sound, i love it. The best whistle is around 3000rpms then lightly pressing the throttle. If it does it around there then its the intake and its normal. I'm guessing the whistle comes from the volume of air the engine is needing at a set rpm's and it whistles off the butterfly.

both my BBK fender-well mount CAI, and my Steeda underhood short-ram intake whistle. everyone always asks if my GT is boosted, its usually pretty loud. I believe the noise is caused by the smooth piping that comes along with an intake. If you notice, most OEM intakes are ridged, supposedly for noise suppression.
