Tri-ax install question

so i am about to install my tri-ax short shifter and i was hoping to change my tranny fluid while installing. now do i have to drain the fluid with a siphon and just put more fluid in or is there more to it?

There are two plugs on tranny passenger side. Bottom is to drian and top to refill.
