yeah it is way up their. I believe on the Mach 1's it is only a 2-5hp, and that is on a 32V V8 starving for air at 75mph+.

I installed S&B CAI last summer on my 06, 6cyl and you can sure hear it sucking in the air over orig. factory. Makes you THINK you are speedy gonzoles. Read MM&FF October 2006 issue, if memory is correct, where they tested the standard and tune type intakes. .2 second in the qtr at best on a GT. All the hype you read, well, that is exactly what it is according to MM&FF. I have 6 because drive 40,000 miles to and from work with sharp looking body!. Price of gas these days !@#$%^&*()_+? Has enough gideeeeup passing on 2 lane hwy and just cruise at 75 on I system. Hope to make some improvements in the suspension so can take corners at 80! lol

Yup the only "ram-air" that works is an air to air intercooler.

I'd say get for the looks if thats what your wanting, thats the reason I bought the Mach1. If your wanting hp gains, save your money and just drop in hi flo filter or get an inexpensive CAI.

Well, ya. At the time, I was driving a white '02 Mustang GT as a daily car and was helping my brother at a dealership when he was buying a truck. While hashing out the final price, there was a screaming yellow Mach 1 sitting in the show room next to the salesman's desk. I sat there for a couple of hours checking that car out. I honestly didn't know the difference between SOHC and DOHC or any of the other changes and factory upgrades between that particular car and the GT I was driving. I was impressed with the way it looked, and having a functional hood scoop truly appealed to me. I remembered growing up in the 70's during the peak of the big block muscle car era as well as the Opec Oil Scare of the late 70's that brought about the end of said big block muscle car era. So, sitting in front of me was a car that may not have had a big block, but represented a time in my childhood when I yearned for a muscle car. Ford certainly marketed that car shrewdly with the 70s retro styling and "Shaker hood". Whether the shaker hood was beneficious or not, I didn't care, that wasn't the point for me for the purchase. I saved my money for 8 mos, went to my car dealer and bought it. Not as a dd mind you, but as a weekend, infrequently driven car. It was also my 7th mustang to buy. I kept my mustang GT as a dd for a lil while only to trade it in for a Sport Trac a couple months later. Big mistake, traded that thing in a year later for another '02 mustang GT (Mineral Grey and mustang #8). So here I am now, I have a '04 SY Mach1 for the weekends and a '02 Mustang GT to drive to work everyday.

So why did you buy your mustang? The gas mileage? The handling? The spine snapping power of a V6? Or was it given to you so you didn't really have a choice in what you had to drive?

The original post was asking about the functionality of a "ram air" hood and I gave him an honest answer that pertained to the topic. Even the diatribe above I just spent the last couple of minutes typing is within the confines of the subject. If your not going to contribute, then start another thread or something, at the very least, be constructive for a change.

Sorry for getting , back ttt
