Default which supercharger?

theres all those vortech and procharger and other brands, but i dont know which one i would benefit from the most. and also, would i have to do anything else to my car to get one, i mean other than an intercooler, is there anything i need to know about? like, can it blow my engine since its only a V6 3.8 liter? its a 2000. i just dont want to get a supercharger and then go and blow up my motor...

you wont blow your motor with a good tune etc. there are basically Vortech's and Prochargers. Prochargers come intercooled and make the most power. If you get a vortech and want to intercool it later you cannot. You would need to get a focus 310lph fuel pump and 42# injectors as well as atune.

why can't you i/c a vortech later? on gt's, plenty of ppl build "DYI intercoolers". I wouln't worry to much about the intercooling, plus you could always add meth injection down the road, if you turn up the boost. non intercooled is fine to 10+ psi. last year I made 520 rwhp @ 14psi boost w/o intercooling. if you're reffering to a focus SVT pump, they are less than 200lph, but will still support ~400 rwhp. lastly, in my travels, vortechs are a bit more reliable than prochargers. but both are really good choises.

no offence, but this isnt a GT. in order to do an IC on a vortech you have to make some fairly wackey bends and it ends up becoming very inefficient. Water/Meth is really the only way to go with a Vortech on the 3.8. Is the aviater the 310lph? People can argue vortech vs procharger till the cows come home but on a v6 the procharger kit just makes more power. period.

that's why I qualified my statement with "on gt's"... aviator is low 200's and dual cobras don't even flow 300lph, IIRC. my other statement wasn't about power, it was about reliability. both are good, no doubt, just the vortech's seem to last a little longer...$.02

I recently got a 8lb Vortech installed on my 2000 V6. So you should not have any problems with a blown engine. The weather has been pretty crappy since I got it installed, but hopefully I will be driving it more often. Just make sure you get a tune for it and have fun. Along with the supercharger you will probably need to get a different set of sparkplugs, but other then that you should be fine. And after it is installed go out and have fun.
