Default True dual exhaust?

ok, i have a question. i am wanting dual exhaust but am not sure which route to go. i was going to get some long tube headers and get an h pipe and 2 flowmasters so i would have true dual exhaust, but then i read that if your car doesnt have a whole lot of hp, it will cause too little back pressure and you will lose hp. would it be smarter to get, i guess a y pipe? and just have one muffler with two outlets? and will dual exhaust add anymore horsepower? thanks guys.

you will gain power with long tubes and the h-pipe. Its a great setup for the future also when you get some sort of power adder or larger cam and intake mods etc....

dont do the single muffler and y pipe you wont be satisfied. I tell everyone this go to a shop that can do your long tubes and at the same time and have them make a custom exhaust just for your setup.

even on my GT when I did my full exhaust (LT's, O/R X-pipe, cat-back) I lost back pressure.. which killed my low end power.. but I gained it all plus some in the higher RPMs. I'm not sure how true this would hold for a v6, but I would assume it would be sort of the same result. Someone correct me if I'm wrong plz

Just go with the headers and h-pipe, make sure you get a catted H-pipe for it so you don't loose too much hp if your real worried about it.

MustSee: I got my Spintech exhaust because of that same reason, i thought the exhaust bent down the back looked retarted and I couldn't be more happy with my Side Exhaust...

i work in a speed shop called south coast speed and sound www.teamscss.com. anyways my best friend just picked up an 02 gt. im planning on doing a bassani dual with butterfly cutoffs before the cats. this way in a speedy situation he can flip a switch, open those butterflies and dump that air.ive done the same setup on a couple of the newer gto's(04 05 06) and its turned out great. i might suggest a similar application in your stang
