Default upgrade advice

well i just got a '95 V6 3.8L Automatic and i was wondering if there were any upgrades i should do since the car is all stock

so far i have picked out

http://americanmuscle.com/bbk-cai-9498-v6.html CAI
http://americanmuscle.com/bbk-56mm-t...dy-9498v6.html Throttlebody

as for exhaust..im not exactly sure yet..i was looking for dual that gives a deeper sound than stock..preferably in the $300-$450 range

i have found a lot of exhaust systems for 96-04...would exhaust made for 96-04 fit on 95?

thanks

cai exhaust gears and a tuner are your best options

bbk makes a cai for your car and flowmaster has a exhaust around your price range http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pe...5&brandid=3124 http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pe...3&brandid=2982

Ok here is my suggestion.
1. dont buy the bbk save your self some money and get this http://americanmuscle.com/94-98-v6-cold-air-intake.html
they all do the same thing just ditch the air filter and get a K & N with the money you saved. Its all in the filter.
2. Get a flowmaster h pipe system with 2.5 pipe and either super 40 or 80 Mufflers. or get a Mac system its mostly personal prefrence
3.then get your self http://www.americanmuscle.com/mopepl4ge.html
4. then this http://www.americanmuscle.com/sct-xcalibrator-2.html
or this http://www.americanmuscle.com/diablo...-mustangs.html
thoses are just the basic stuff no need to get deep yet hope this was helpful

ok so it looks like i should basically get the following:

http://americanmuscle.com/94-98-v6-cold-air-intake.html CAI(and buy K&N filter)

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pe...3&brandid=2982 Flowmaster exhaust

http://www.americanmuscle.com/mopepl4ge.html 4.10 gears(it says all GT and Cobra models but mine isnt GT or Cobra)

http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-56...dy-9498v6.html

TOTAL: $848.92 (without the tuner)

these are the gears you want you have a 7.5 rear not the 8.8 it wont fit if you get the other ones you're looking at http://www.americanmuscle.com/v6gears.html

and keep in mind w/o the tuner your speedometer will be off signifigantly 20% i think

yes correct on the speedo. i yeah good catch on the 7.5 rear.

but u may want to find out if the bbk throttlebody with fit with the intake if not youd have to buy an adaptor for it but thats no prob.

oh yeah and for your exhaust you may want to check local shops that could fab you a custom system it may prove to be cheeper but make sure its a true mandrel bend if not you will get the wrong size pipe and that a big problem good luck to ya

and if you get the gears a tuner is a MUST!!

dont buy a k&n filter if you get a cold air intake. the cotton filter that it comes with is pretty close in comparison. you dont need to waste another 40 dollars on another filter.

On a v 6 automatic (or any auto i think) you MUST get a tune...

Dunno if thats how it is for the manuals or not...

I don't know about the exhausts that say "96-04" mainly because...i think the connectors under the car are diff... thats why alot of systems will say "00-04" and stuff... And I'm almost positive the O2 sensors are different.. (went through that one today...)

As for the throttle body...i'd probably hold off on that... which is why no one has addressed that...because they probably think the same...

The basic mods any v6 or v8 wants to hit (unless its a cobra mach1 saleen ect) is... exhaust/gears/tune

And since you're a v6..i'd look into TLOC also..so you get both tires going, not the peg leg...

As for the exhaust...you can go to a muffler shop in your town, have them fabricate you one, buy 2 sets of mufflers (magnaflow, flowmaster, whatever the hell you want) and still get it for about 350 bucks. Its a hell of alot easier then trying to do it yourself, unless you've got a lift, and plenty of patience to mess with sensors and all that good garbage...

CAI...I dunno, I don't have one, I just tossed in a filter and tossed out my stock filter..all of them do the same stuff, and i don't think you really see huge differences depending on the brands...

http://www.macperformance.com/store/...Product_ID=279 (longtube headers...still looking for exhaust)

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=8606 (4.10 gears)

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...rtKeyField=742 (TLOC)

Like everyone has said, the exhaust is mainly a preference as to what you would like...just hit up some muffler shops..have them fabricate you one..

I just did mine... welded my own piping ect, then for my mufflers i went with flowmasters... isn't too bad i got the mandrel bends...the exhaust cuts off right before my rear tires..mainly cause i'm too lazy to deal with having to cut my fascia, or buy a gt fascia... just shop around for one that you like man.

hey i told you flowmasters for ur mufflers, but you may want to check out Edelbrock. Not many people have em but they are very good they go under the radar. but you can never go wrong with the flows

Gears are a good start, however you will need a tune. I suggest you save your money and make a smart buy like a turbo or supercharger. The gears and tuner alone will run you about $600. Just save your money and do some research. Find out what kind of power you want to make. Nobody is ever happy with just a cold air intake and an exhaust. There are sites like TMAturbo.com and my site http://www.putfile.com/hitman38mod that can show you how to build a kit or buy parts. My turbo kit cost $2,200 to build. You really need to sit down and find out what you want from your car. Before you waste money on parts you can not use down the road. Just my 2 cents.
