Default Best Exhaust Sound

So after thinking about it for awhile I am thinking i will go with cat back exhaust that works with my y pipe on my 97 v6. I am thinking of getting either the mac catback or the borla catback. they both work with my y pipe but i was wondering which would give off better sound? would it be either of these or one that i dont know about?

Matt

thats all totally indipendent. . . Borla and mac make mufflers, they might sell their mufflers with some tailpipes but that doesnnt make a diffrence.

Best sounding Exhausts for V6's

Spintech ... Dual Side exit $530, regular dual exhaust is like 350 i think...

Magnaflow ... 400 for dual exhaust

Mac ... 350 dual exhaust

if you do the dual exhaust also take into account the Rear Bumper, and having to either cut out holes, or change it to a GT bumper (not that you HAVE to do it, but without the cuts the exhaust looks TERRIBLE IMO)

Go with Mac for a cheap hassle free exhaust, and find a GT bumper...

borla... mm mm good

anyways... mac makes good stuff...

check out... mac, flowmaster, magnaflow...

I also recomend ya get a mid pipe as opposed to the y... an h-pipe will give yer 6 a deeper more musclular sound...

So could i get an h pipe and the mac true duals and have it installed without any modifications? and a good h pipe would be by mac?

yah...

I have a mac offroad h... its great...

the h should bolt right up to yer exhaust manifolds if i am not mistaken...

also offroad pipe will not pass emisions... so keep that in mind... ya'll need to find a private inspector...

matt this is philio from boston ironicly im in the market for a exhaust myself i own a 97 cobra and my favorite exhaust is borla but they dont make a application for 97 cobra but only the GT so i recommend only two exhaust systems. one being borla #1 and 2 being bassani. borla has this nice deep throaty sound that dosent sound cheap like flowmaster or mac or magnaflow. i just spent 4-5 hrs today calling every company to make sure that borla dont make a app for my ride and then asked what would they believe to be the next best and they all said bassani even magnaflow said this. and im a picky bastard when it comes to my ride so 800.00 later its bassani email me a BostonItalian24@hotmail.com

ok just to get this straight for a quality cat back system for my 97 v6 convertible i could go the mac catted h pipe like this http://www.mustangtuning.com/9498v6-...ed-h-pipe.html
and the bassani catback made for a 96-97 gt or cobra like this http://www.partshopper.com/shop/Bass...obra-m286.html and from the bassani it will sound alot better then mac? and all i have to do is buy it and have it installed without any mods made and it will pass emissions? btw how much will it cost to have it installed?

I would just like to point something out, he wouldnt have to modify his bumper, he has a 97. The SN95 v6 looks completely at home with dualies in the back, given the GT didnt have cutouts either it really matches well.

true, and about the previous post... it's true Borla and Bassani do sound good, ... lets not forget the cost effectiveness here... 1000 bucks for a borla exhaust is just wasteful... if you want a REALLY nice set up for 1000 bucks that could get you the full Long Tube headers, catted h-pipe and catback... but for you, if you want cheap, go with the mac catback, and later if you want a deeper sound, get the Longtube headers and offroad h...
