Default Dual Exhaust

I am thinking about adding a gt exhaust to my v6. Do you all know if it would sound good, or even possibly add some horsepower even the smallest amount? Also i am thinking about getting a underdrive pulley, but i dont know what i need to get for it, or what the differences are. What would you all suggest? My mustang is a 1999 Mustang V6. So any suggestings/comments would help.

Here is a list of MODS for the V6.
The first thing I did was my exhaust. I changed it to Duals there are serveral ways yu can do this from buying the complete set up to getting GT take-offs. After I did the ehaust got the T-Loc & gears. Then I got a MAC CAI. Change out stock 15' " rimsto 16 stock GT. Now just waiting on little stuff, Chin spoiler from MT, new shifter stuff like that. I didnt go with the underdrive pullys really don't make much difference on HP so... Hope this helps.

Stage 1
Dual Exhaust (2.25" for Naturally Aspirated Cars and 2.5" for Blown Cars and some big NA strokers)
Rear End Gears & Traction-Lok (3.73 for Manual & 4.10 for Automatic)
Cold Air Intake
Underdrive Pullies
Short Throw Shifter (5-Speed) or Shift Kit (Automatic)

Stage 2
Torque Converter (Automatics)
Suspension Upgrade (Lowering Springs, Shocks & Struts, Rear Sway Bar and Strut Tower Brace).
Throttle Body (94-98) with crossover tube matching.
Custom Burned Chip, but most do not need this until Stage 3.

Stage 3
Ported and Polished Upper Intake, Lower Intake & Heads
Custom Ground Camshaft
Pushrods and Springs
Ignition System (Only needed if Forced Induction or Nitrous is used)
Fuel System Upgrades (190/255 lph fuel pump, bigger injectors & adjustable fuel pressure regulator)
Custom Chip necessary at this level for max power! Usually worth at least 10-15 RWHP and mucho low end torque.

Stage 4
Built 3.8 or 4.2L Engine (big bore best )
Supercharger, Turbocharger, Nitrous
Forged Internals (sic) Forged rods and pistons are a good idea.
MAF (all years) and TB (99^) stock MAF is adequate before this.

I'm sure a gt exhaust would sound better (or at least look better) than a v6 but I think for v6 you should go with getting an exhaust system (mufflers from somebody like flowmaster or magnaflow) designed for a v6 to get the best sound of it (even though you wont be able to get a gt sound out of a v8). Underdrive pulleys are just the pulleys that run with your serpentine belt. They wont give you a whole lot more hp and you'll have to change the length of your belt but if you can find them for a good price, go for it.

OK, so if i just find a nice price on the pulleys get them, otherwise dont bother? I know its alot of money, but ill soon have 2 jobs, i hope, so ill have money to spend, and plus at my job now i just got a raise up to 9 an hour and increased my hours. I know it may not sound like thats alot to you all, but keep in mind im 17, bout to be 18 and still in high school. So its a big deal for me. BUt i know with a gt exhuast it wont sound like a gt, but i just like the whole dual exhaust stuff, and i dont mind forking out more money to buy two, but would it still sound the same? Do you all think a short throw shifter is a must, because personally i dont like the stock one i have, and i just like how the shorts look

I would hold off on the pulleys really don't make much difference. First thing I would do is to change out the exhaust to duals. Then a CAI I felt some difference when it was installed. Then I would do the short shifter feels real nice. Then work on getting the T lock and new gears... One thing about a V6 there is alot of things you can MOD will cost you ut is so much fun to do though

I agree. I have duals and CAI on my car right now and it's a good start. Next I'm working on rims and a few things for looks. Pulleys really don't make much a difference and they also pull away from your water pump and alternator.

alright, well tahts about 200 dollars saved right there for me...thanks. How can I check what type of trany i have? I know there are different types, like t-5 or t-45, tr-3650, tko-3550, t-56, tko-500/tko-600. I have a 1999 V6 3.8L 5 speed, would that be the T-5 trany? Is it the same trany for all 3.8L or each one has a different type? Because ordering a short throw shifter i'll have to know what type of trany.

hey a mustang is a mustang, automatic or manual. Automatics are nce if you have turbo because it shifts at the best rpm so best output for the turbo

I was wondering if I would be able to get the dual exhaust conversion kit for my 04 v6 auto and then be able to put on GT exhausts (thinking about SLP... would that do a great deal?)
