The problem is offset I think.
I have an 82 gt with a 2001 Cobra IRS installed. The wheel offset is wrong, to keep the wheels and tires inside the wheel well. The wheels I have now are 17x8 bullits. Stock wheels. What offset and what wheel will keep these
in the wheel wells so they won't scrape.

it sure is... I don't know offhand what offset would do the trick. How bad is the rub? Could a fender lip rolling take care of it? You may want to check out corner-carvers.com lots of IRS cars there.
