Rims vs. Powder Coat

Rims vs. Powder Coat
So I've been thinking about getting chrome rims, but funds are just a little bit tight right now.
My friend and I were talking about getting rims (He has a Camaro BOO Chevy), and he pointed out that I also had the option of getting my current rims "Powder Coated", which seems to cost about half as much.
What are the pros and cons of getting rims powder coated rather than getting new ones altogether?
Thanks,
Demetri

Chrome rims can be eaten away by things like salt, rust, anything of the sort. They'll have a much brighter shine that powdercoating, but it's all in your taste. Powdercoated rims would have a clear coat sorta to protect them from damage and rust. The only bad thing is I've heard a lot of people getting it done cheap...and then it flaking off.
Get it done right the first time, that's all I can say.
