Default widest rear tire for 06 mustang?

I've got an '06 GT, I've only had it about two weeks and the rear tires are almost toast allready. Less than 1/16" left! He-he! I like the factory rims, they kinda have the old torque thrust look. What I want to put on, is the old style Cragars. On the cragar site, they call them series 61. I think they're also called the SS style. I'm happy with the same size tire and wheel up front, but I obviously want the widest rear tire I can fit in the back. I'm not trying to go for the big rim, super thin sidewall tire look either. I'd rather fill the well with ruber. After looking at the Cragar site, I want to try a 15x10 with 275/60r15's for the rear and 17x8 with factory size for the front. It doesn't give the backspace info on the site, nor does it say anything about bolt pattern. I am absolutely positive that the only wheel I'd replace the ones I have with would be the old style Cragars. But I really need some help choosing the right sizes. I'd like to keep the hight roughly the same, just trying to get as wide as possible out back.

on a 10 inch ride rim, the smallest id go with is a 285/xx/xx tire. 305 and 315 shouldnt be a problem fitting on either.

Default will it fit?

Do you have any idea if I'll have any clearance issues? I could just order them online, I suppose, but then what do I do if they rub? I guess I'm looking for someone who's put wider back tires on an 05-07 Mustang. I don't want to be the first guy chucking money at mistakes.

Just go down to your local tire shop and have them take a look. Go as wide as possible.

Holly hell, why are you abusing that car like that? Two weeks and the tires are done?

It's not abusing the car, it's loving it.

It is abusing the tires however.... who likes rubbers anyhow?

The DD Bullit's look just like the SS Cragers and are cheaper.

Dont get the Cragars, those are for old rust buckets. And you want 15's??? Maybe that would look decent on a drag car, but itll be just plain tacky on a stock 06 GT IMO. Get some 18 inch DD Bullitts and 315/30/18 tires......

I agree with the 15's.

If you really want a smaller wheel, then get 17's instead of 18's or even 20's since it's an 06.

Just get some 315/35/17's by Goodyear. GS-D3, it will look very very good and it's a very wide tire. And it should fit without a problem.
